My days of going case-less are officially over until we have shatterproof iPhone screens.

Dropped my iPhone last week while using a skin and shattered the screen. That's twice now in a year and the first time I was using a case with no front screen protection.

So case it is for me moving forward. Sucks but paying Apple $130 each time to repair my screen is even worse.

i actually had a really bad bicycle accident a week and a half ago where i only had a glass screen protector on my phone. i broke my clavicle (no fracture, complete break) and luckily i only made some nicks on the glass screen proctor and some scuffs on one corner. not even a dent. it was in my right pocket and i landed on my left side. I'm not a fan of cases. i never was. the only ones i like are those really thin like .03 mm cases for the back that are frosted and just provided protection from scratches and offer some grip. I'm always really good with my phones.

I've had iPhones since the 3G and never had a case until the 5. Apples iPhone designs are always so good it's almost criminal to cover them up but I'm so protective of my gadgets and working on the railway I decided a case maybe a good thing.

I buy the slimmest clear case I can these days so I still get to see the phone for what it is,

I do not have ever and have never used a screen protector. I look after my things so have never ever dropped my phone and smashed the screen. Plus screen protectors bug the crap out of me.

Using friends phones that have them on feels awful! If apple thought you would need a screen protector they would of put one on the phone for you use the phone as it was built for you.

I put my new SE in ghost armor and can now use it without a case. It is a tough and clear coating wrapped around the phone. I have used it before on other phones and have had great luck.

if the iPhone 6s wasn't so ugly and slippery, I would love to not be forced to use a case, but because the above, Apple basically forces one to use a case.

They don't force me to use one. Also I don't find it ugly or slippery.

I agree, except for the not finding the phone ugly part. :)

Oh sure, there are good aspects but the camera bulge and the antenna bands - just no. Don't care for that.

Anyway, more to slipperiness. I do not find it slippery either, or rather no more slippery than say my old iPhone 5. However, I dropped my iPhone 5 - a lot. Whereas my 6s+ I have been far less clumsy with.

I attribute that to the fact that it's larger and I therefore have more surface area to grip.

But one other thing I also had to learn and perhaps that's one of the reasons people take to cases. And that is fingerprints on the glass. Once I got over my hesitation to grip my iPhones in a way where my hands were on the glass I stopped dropping them. I can always clean the glass. Fixing a broken screen is much more involved. So, I no longer have any fear of getting my fingerprints all over the phone.

i use one of those super paper thin spigen type cases thats like 0.3mm think or something in a frosted color on my gold 6s plus. its thin enough. i can still see the gold color and it gives it some more texture to hold on to.

^ with those types of cases where you can carry cards and stuff I always think of the worst possible scenario. you make a mistake and leave your phone somewhere and now you lost your credit cards and license.

I get that but to me I'm pretty much connected to my phone so the chances of that ever happening is like zero %. Will see how long I rock with this..might change to a normal case at some point

I don't use cases anymore. When I got the first iPhone on launch day in 2007 I had one of those clear acrylic cases on it....sand got in and scratched it all up. After that I decided the case thing was all just a scam lol. You pay so much money for something that someone painstakingly designed...why hide it behind an ugly cheap case.

99% of the time my phone sits in a business card holder. I have three. One on my desk at work, one at home and one on my desk at home.

The other times it's either in a side pocket in my pants, in a specific compartment in my car(s), or back side down on a surface with something under it.

If it's on a flat surface I leverage it up with my left hand and then use my right hand to grab it. In other words, I use two hands to pick it up.

I’m glad I found this post! Naked is the way to go to FULLY experience your iPhone. It’s a delight to hold and operate, caseless! You just have to be mindful of how you handle your device!
