I'd take a bit of extra weight and size for extra protection, and increased resell ability later on for upgrading.

I love how thin the iPhone is, but the idea of my iPhone dropping naked onto the pavement spooks me.

I still contend, and my experience in my own family has been, that a case-less phone treated well has a better resale value than a phone that's been in a case. The micro-scratching that phones get after being in a case for months (let alone a year or more) is the issue at hand.

Whilst I have no true, direct comparison as my iPhone's been in an Apple silicone case right from it's unboxing, I do regularly take it off at home for cleaning (microfibre round the switch, camera etc.) and it seems to be nearly immaculate with no micro-scratching etc. The only signs of very slight wear are around the ports.

I'm not saying case-scratching doesn't happen, but speaking circumstantially given the environments my phone has experienced and my phone's current condition - I can almost guarantee it could only have been in worse condition if I left it naked.

I believe that. It depends entirely on how the phone is treated. If one were to treat a naked phone the same way they treat a condom-ized phone, yes, the one in the case will be in better shape. If, however, you are willing to treat the phone the way I (and others) do that go naked (dedicated pocket -- not even paper in there with the phone, never set it down on a hard surface, etc), then you never get micro-scratching and the phone looks like it did when it came out of the box a year later. I consistently get better resale value on my phones than my wife or daughter get on theirs; theirs are in cases, mine is naked.

It absolutely is a trade off. With a case, you can be more carefree with how you handle your phone, but you have to touch and feel the case for the life of the device, instead of the phone itself. You also risk the micro-scratching situation (which you've mitigated with your habits; kudos). Without a case, you have to be much more aware of your phone and diligent with how you handle it, but you get to see, touch, feel your phone as precision-crafted device that it is and, in general, don't suffer from the wear that a case normally exacts on a phone. Either path is fine, neither one is the 'correct' way. Just depends on personal preference.

This discussion is raising another great point about the SE.

Since it's less expensive than other models, I'm much more willing to run case free.

I love going naked. Just love new thin design. Just so damn slippery. So I had bought an apple leather case. It was nice. That case recently got all tore up. So I bought a new case. I bought the Caudabe xt for the iPhone 6s Plus. Wow man. Just ****ing wow. You can't even tell it's there. So thin. The case most likely only protects it from scratches but that's ok with me. You can't even feel it. It literally felt like I just had bought a new iPhone because I was able to feel how light it really was and thin compared to when I had the leather Apple case on it. It's cheap too. Check it out. http://www.caudabe.com/collections/...ries/products/the-veil-xt-iphone-6s-plus-wisp

I recently got an iPhone 6s and it is so thin and beautiful i just can't put a case on it. I've tried a few cases and they just make it to bulky and add to much weight. It just feels so much better without protection. Anyone else refuse to put a case on their Iphone?

Don't most things? ;)

Those with AppleCare plus. How "bad" does your phone have to be before they'll replace/fix? I've always got it but never used it!

True, but more importantly for me, I don't want my phone to be any larger than it has to be, or any more resistant to slipping into my front pants pocket than necessary ...

I began my iOS journey in 2012 with the iPhone 4s. I have purchased every iPhone model since then, with the exception of the 5c. I've Not had any of my iPhones, except my iPhone 5, in a case and I've not had any problems. I bought a case for the iPhone 5, but returned it after a few days because I really didn't see a need for it.

I splashed out on a Grip leather Vaja case with the 6 plus, however got a cheap snug fit gel back cover for the 6s plus . Still very much looking crystal clear, thin & caseless:)

I did drop it face down on a concrete floor recently , thankfully the Spigen glass screen protector smashed & saved the day

Now you know I am going to disagree with that right? :)

Launch weekend 6s+. Never been in a case.

Beautiful. I envy you. I wish I could keep a phone like that without a case. Most people I know couldn't do that.

Out of curiosity, where does your phone go when you hop in the car?
It depends on the car.

In our Sentra there is a small, square tray right in front of the cup holder. It goes in there when I drive it. It's small enough that I can put the phone in crosswise (corner to corner) so that it rides on it's edge during my drive (my wife just tosses hers in the cupholder but she uses a case).

In our Honda there is an open compartment right in front of the gear shift at the bottom of the radio stack. I lay it flat in there. But I have a black leather sleeve that fits the width of that compartment so it rides on the sleeve in the compartment preventing it from grinding against any dust that may be around.

Both of us, my wife and I, do not usually pick up our phones when driving, especially when we get a text. It can wait. Hence the phone(s) generally ride out of the way.

You know I'm going to call you insane right? I would love to go without...... I'm just way to active. Sometimes at the house I try..... I drop it within 10 minutes because I'm just not used to it. I love the look and feel, but it's an investment I just can't afford to gamble with ..... I'm jealous of anyone who can pull this off.

I get it. My phone is about as sedentary as I am and rarly ventures beyond certain designated spots, always within reach, but out of the way.

If I was more physical I'd probably be thinking about cases too.
