Do typical consumers of the iPhone buy directly from Apple? I don’t know anybody that does because the better deals are elsewhere. Perhaps different countries have types of consumer but in mine I’d say Apple is the least popular place to buy an iPhone. Most people are in contract to spread the cost of these hideously priced handsets.

I now buy outright with Apple. I’m one of few who love to track their iPhone from China to my doorstep. I haven’t paid a device payment in almost 2 years and I’m going to keep it that way. I save up for my iPhone + AppleCare+, monthly starting from the month that I upgrade. So far it’s been working for me. Definitely waiting to upgrade my 12PM to the 14PM this fall.

True… was just saying tmobiles jump on demand program made it a no brainer to pick up a new phone every year, that changed when price increases and pro models came along, they started chargiing Downpayments, depending on which one you chose… but it was great while it lasted

That’s one of the reasons I jumped ship to Verizon. The expensive down payments were ridiculous. Verizon is $0 down but your device payment is higher. I then started paying outright and avoid the device payment. I now upgrade every 2 years, so this makes more sense for me.

I believe the 14 Max would target previous Plus iphone and Xs Max owners, those who clearly who wanted larger screen but have certain price sensitivity from upgrading to the Pro Max iphones. And I'm pretty sure some 12 and 13 owners would upgrade as well if they're interested in the larger screen. Larger screen have been shown to be huge selling point beyond technical specification as proven by the iphone 6 Plus.

We'll see. It's fun to speculate. :) I do have a feeling the 14 Max will be extremely popular, akin to the best selling iPhone 6/6 Plus

That’s the #1 reason why I buy the Pro Max models. The biggest screen size is a no brainer for me.

Hear me out first.

With loud and clear rumors the 14 will still use the A15, possibly be delayed, go up in price by $100, wouldn't a discounted 13 Pro Max from a 3rd party retailer like Best Buy, at 14 launch day or earlier, be the better buy?

Between the two, the 14 Max will be slower, have 60Hz refresh vs 120Hz, probably have inferior cameras, same notch, perhaps better battery life due to less cores, if a discounted 13 Pro Max is only $100 more or even priced with a 14 Max, isn't this a no-brainer? (Not a rhetorical question)

This in spite of the fact that some analysts think the 14 Max will be the most popular model.
I don’t think it’s pointless. I believe it will sell out and will be the best seller. People want big phones you can’t deny that. I see people use the max, not for the camera but really the screen.

USB C or nothing. That is all.
I take a lot of pro-res videos and I'm not about to use this slow-ass lightning port to transfer files again, but Apple will disappoint me so I'll probably skip and wait for 15 Pro Max.

iPhone 14 pro range would only be worth the update no difference on the 13 & 14
