What can you do with an Apple cert, being the world is Microshaft?

Work for a university/hospital/corporation etc. that uses Apple products?

Okay, so I am going to take the ACSP exam in a couple months. I am a computer tech for a high school that is all mac and my boss really wants me to have it. I mostly do light repair work and troubleshooting. If we have an issue, such as a motherboard to be replaced or a display problem and the display needs to be replaced on a dekstop Apple sends someone (not an Apple employee) to fix that part. My question is what certs do I need for THAT job? I mean, this guy basically goes from business to business, school to school fixing macs.

Also, Sky Blue-Would you still be willing to post that practice test?

To fix your own equipment, you'd need to be an Apple Certified Macintosh Technician.

Just took the hardware exam (9L0-006) for ACMT. Been studying for 6 weeks using Applecare technician training. Passed with 96%, not a hard exam...everything was straight out of the applecare training.

Great posts! I am planning on taking the 9L0-402 exam and was wondering if any one knew of a 3rd edition for the 10.5 support essentials book.
Thanks

Thanks for the replies, I got and am now in the process of buying a 1G dual processer G4 to run Leopard. I only have a 733 G4 that will not run it as far as I've read.
Thanks again time to study!

So, if you take those exams and get certified, you can find jobs, even if you don't have a computer science or IT-related degree?

Depends on the job really. A degree and experience is still your best bet. Some jobs won't look at your resume unless you have all three.

So i ask about what are the important chapters ?? ,Number of questions , pass percentage .
And ask about if any one have the 9L0-402 questions ( pass4sure ...) ... etc.

You have plenty of time to study. Take a look at skills assessment guide to see where the most questions come from.
You should definitely know your CLI as well as permissions. If you work with OS X, you'll be fine.

I just bought the peach pit books for this and have been pretty underwhelmed with the Desktop and Portable systems book third edition. Lots of outdated info and doesn't really have an overall exam which I was hoping for at the end. Have seen the pass4sure exam and am impressed with it, but the price seems a bit high, and the broken english on the site makes me nervous too. Has anyone been able to get money back from them if they fail?

For a bit of background, I want the ACMT to repair Macs. I've worked on them in the past, but not any powermacs or imacs. Doing the hardware test before the OSX support one since I believe it will be the harder one. Thanks for the help :)

I can't afford it. Went for the pass4sure software though, and taking the exam in about 3 hours. Feeling pretty good about it.

Well yeah, when you get all the answers before the exam I guess you would be feeling pretty good.

You are employed by an AASP, though right?

This is good thread. Right now I'm pretty addicted to certifications. I just got my Linux+ and OS X Support Essentials done last weekend. I got my ACTC in Jaguar awhile ago. Some of you guys probably passed the Applecare technician exam; I have to do that soon. What is the troubleshooting exam like? I'm not looking for any question details, but what kinds of objectives are desired? Thanks.
