Yup, I went iPad Pro only about 3 years ago for work and personal use. I would never go back to a traditional PC. The whole experience has been very positive and very freeing, so much simpler as well.
iPad Pro is my only device alongside my iPhone. I couldn't be happier to free myself from those archaic PCs and laptops.Yup, I went iPad Pro only about 3 years ago for work and personal use. Does Sketchup allow 3D animation too? I’ve dabbled in it before years ago on a PC but only as a hobby and would like to do it again one day, but I don’t know if any apps in the iPad that allow this? Are there any? What kind of CAD / 3D do you do? I used to do some pretty big personal projects on SketchUp back in the day. I found a perfect app on iOS for iPad and Apple Pencil that did 3D in a similar way 'for anyone', but sadly was a subscription model. Maybe if you do it a lot, you'd be well satisfied with this?
I literally sold my Air 3 for this reason (lack of download manager) in May. It was trying to download a royalty free MP3 background music track to put into iMovie and nothing was working. It was for a work project too and suddenly I had spent 25 mins of time on the clock doing something simple D; I regret it now that we're getting one in iPad OS.

You're welcome! It is possible ;-)
I'd have thought plenty of apps exist for this on the iPad!

Thanks, I’m aware that one can select multiple adjacent columns and visually resize them together using that method - that’s just not what I was trying to do. On full version of Excel one is able to CTRL click column headers of non-adjacent columns or rows and manually enter column/row sizes in points to precisely format a spreadsheet. Is there a trick to that on the mobile version?
And also . . . The last minute nature of the need was put on by one of my clients, not brought on by me being as irresponsible as you presume me to be.
Try it and see, I haven’t tried that on mobile yet. Also, request the feature from Microsoft. They genuinely listen (as do many iPad OS app developers) and will add stuff people want. That wouldn’t be a big deal for them to do.
In that case your client can wait, if it’s their fault. So long as you’re doing the best you can, that’s their problem!
Been successfully using iPads since 2013 as my main computer only using desktop pc because of iOS limitations.I’ve been considering selling my MacBook Pro and iPad Pro and getting a 3rd gen iPad Pro with iOS 13. So I’d use an iPhone XS Max and an iPad Pro. I’m just curious if anyone else has?
If only Apple updated the iPad so you had good external monitor support. That would be pure heavenPretty much. Got rid of my MacBook Pro, upgraded to the 12.9 from the 10.5 pro, still have the 10.5 that I use in bed and on the toilet loooove the 12.9 and I do most of my work on it. I also have a Mac mini hooked to a ultra wide. I still like sitting at desk and using a big screen, usually have my 12.9 (and sometimes 10.5 for an added screen) on my desk while using my mini.
if it weren’t formy fancying big screens to work on, I wouldn’t have a mini (don’t really like iMacs due to having to replace the entire thing if bad or lack of monitor freedom). I can see myself going full iPadS. If only Final Cut Pro or photoshop (wasn’t it supposed to be out already?)were ported to iOs,
So you were trying to decide between MBP or iPP? Just curious, why didn’t you consider a middle option, the MacBook Air?Recently came across a speed bump in my decision on what to purchase recently. A MBP or iPad. or Both? I weighed the options for a couple of weeks. MBP would cost me $2,200 refurb with the specs I wanted. 13", i7, 16gb ram, 512 SSD. iPad Pro 11", 512, WIFI+Cellular - $1,049.00. Then I asked myself, do I really need a $2k+ laptop? What would I be doing? Photos, web, email, light office/pages, etc stuff. That's about it. I also wanted portability, take it with me, take notes, lay in bed, on vacation. Simple, lots of battery life.
Then it hit me, I don't need a MBP. It would be wasted on me. I literally can do everything I need on an iPad. Everything. Especially with the new iPadOS 13, it's even more feature filled now (better than it was).
So I got the iPad Pro. If I need a MB, I have my work machine and a Mini at home. Rarely use either. Usually on my iPhone.
I'm in a similar situation, though desktop instead of laptop. But my main productivity uses with the iPP will be illustration mainly, photography and video (all as a hobby, using footage off a a7 III (hopefully one day)) and the rest will be general consumption. I'm really amateur and from the videos I've seen of Affinity Photo and LumaFusion will cover my needs. But what if I end up taking it more seriously? While I've used After Effects to do try basic compositing, motion graphics and tracking. It's not too big of a deal now, but that could change and I don't think there is an equivalent.Any thoughts?

That is a good point, which I should have thought about! Got plenty to learn, and working within certain restrains can let me focus on those areas rather than doing an average job of 'more'.I think it's a question of when, not if

I've been doing that for Procreate, will expand to the Affinity apps and LumaFusion!YouTube tutorials showing someone actually doing a project

I didn’t mean why you chose the iPad over the MacBook Pro. I understand the iPad was a better fit. I just meant, it was curious to me that when you were trying to decide between the MacBook Pro and iPad, the MacBook Air wasn’t also a consideration since it sits somewhat between a MBP and iPad in terms of portability. In other words, rather than the MBPro, to me the MBAir seems like the closer competitor to an iPad.Wanted portability/touch screen. Didn't want a full fledged "computer" so to speak. Plus, the iPad allows me to use the Pencil. I have the keyboard folio as well. Fit my needs. I have been down the MBP route twice - both times I bought top tier 13" and both times, I sold it within a year of buying it. Rarely using it. I'll use the iPad more than I ever will a MBP.
Did you miss the part about the touchscreen? Last I checked, MacBook Airs suck at touchscreens...and the pencil.I didn’t mean why you chose the iPad over the MacBook Pro. Oh my gosh, I give up.Did you miss the part about the touchscreen? Last I checked, MacBook Airs suck at touchscreens...and the pencil.
You should have given up before your first response.Oh my gosh, I give up.
