Has anyone in the UK see or got one of the C2D MBPs yet? Im wanting to get one this saturday in a shop, as there is a new apple retailer opening in my area, and the first 50 apple computers sold get a free ipod nano with them, so I hope they will have them by then. I rang them up and they said hopefully, but they are not sure.

What do you think the likelyhood of them having them are? I Rang the offical Apple store and they said most definatly by the weekend, so it looked doubtful that this apple re-seller will have them, in which case I will go up to bluewater and get one in the apple shop (if they will have them of course).

I've got mine

I ordered my MBP from the Apple web site the night it came out, it arrived yesterday morning:D I had it delivered to my office which is in central London, not my home address. I think that saved a day!

  :D

Eternaldark, which MBP did you order? I want the 15" with any screen standard model, so shouldnt think that it will be that long to wait. Not sure if I should order online or wait until the shops get them.

See I REALLY cant stand waiting for things to be delivered. I will ring the apple store tomorrow and see if they are expecting a delivery anytime soon. If not, might just order online.

I ordered the STD 15" 2.16 mac book pro with a glossy screen. The std config was good enough for what i needed (and could afford) and as it is my first mac didn't want to spend a fortune just incase. :)

The shipping date is the 6th Nov, but keeping fingers crossed they do it a little quicker :D

Lucky people.

I ordered mine on tuesday evening, think it shipped on 27th but I've been given a date of 8th of November for delivery. Hope it will turn up sooner - have checked the order status on the apple site and it still says 'merge in transit'.:(

Ok Decided to order online, thought I would ring on friday and if they havent got any, at least I have one on order. However, I ordered with the education discount? You do know if this will put the order back? Also, I wanted to add 2GB of RAM, and was in a bit of a rush when I ordered and forgot. Is there anyway to change the order?

Thanks

I ordered mine last Thursday (3pm GMT, 26th October).

15"/2.33/2GB/160GB/matte

Originally it was set to ship on the 2nd Nov and be delivered by 9th Nov.

It shipped today, but it now says it will be delivered by the 13th.

If it takes that long I will wear out the UPS tracking website.

Yes, doubt that it will take that long to ship! When I ordered my 4th Gen ipod 2 years ago, that was shipped from Shanghai and it took maybe 3-4 days tops.

mine is exactly the same situation - although in some places, it tells me delivery on the 8th, sometimes it says the 9th. I'm hoping to pick up from UPS, but I can't find any info....the UPS website doesn't seem to find my tracking number.

I'm pretty sure it comes with 2gb standard?? Or did you mean to add in a 2gb stick giving you 3gb total? I'm pretty sure that you can cancel & re-order if you want to change the spec, but it will probably put your order back to the start. Maybe you have to cancel bEFORE it ships though?

I dont think ordering with an edu discount will put it back - I called up the store and talked them into some impressive discounts, as far as I can tell its just being treated like a normal order...

No I ordered the base model, which comes with 1GB standard, not 2. Ive been given a date of 6th of nov for shipping, but I really hope that the apple store gets some in tomorrow or friday for the weekend, as I really cant wait nearly 2 weeks for it.

Has anyones shipped before their estimated date? I guess im just going to have to be patient.

It really annoys me that the UK seems to get overlooked. It seems that all the apple stores in the US are starting to recive them through and they dont even seem to know over here when they are getting them.:(

If only I lived in shangai, then I could get it within a couple of days! :D

Yes they can. And you are slightly incorrect. I know of one reseller that gives edu discounts. cwonline.co.uk - they have a store, and I bought one there with edu last year. Now I'm in HE, I can get a bigger discount online, which is where I ordered my MacBook Pro (delivery 16th :().

Both the online store and the Apple retail store on Regent St offers discounts for members of certain companies & organisations, so I'm fairly sure that the retailers will honour the educational discounts too.

Independent resellers probably won't honour them, but they've also got a bit of scope to bargain. If you go to them & say you're entitled to a discount through apple, have a chat - they might be willing to negotiate (computer warehouse in Brentford are open-minded on price, but i dont know how much..we never got around to talking £££).

after all, if they believe that you'll go elsewhere, for them a cheap sale is better than no sale at all.

Also, another question, if I wanted to upgrade the ram when I buy from an apple shop, will they do it for me there and then?

I REALLY hope they will have some in stock by saturday, or at least have mine shipped!

i got a teacher's discount at apple online store, same as student one ...so the macbookpro 2.16 with 160gig and basic 1 gig ram worked out at £1025+VAT, my cheapest powerbook 15 ever. I've had about 5 previsouly starting with pbg4 400.

Pretty good deal.

If you using apple store for student/teacher discount, make sure you access the site via your institution , i think discounts are better than just store for education.
