you only get the UPS tracking when it hits England.

If you have ordered something else, you will be waiting for all your items to meet up so they can be shipped together. Thats merge in transit.

Checking my online order status, mine has been assigned with the UPS tracking number. But using this tracking number (prefix 1Z) on UPS website, it just said that the tracking number does not exist on their system yet. Most probably as per my initial assumption, due to the merged shipment. The printer has been assigned with the tracking number (internally by Apple warehouse) and it is now waiting for the MBP to be shipped together to me. Really eager to have my hands on it, but most probably not until end of next week.. owell, I'll keep refreshing the order status every hour then :)

i have the same problem of nothing appearing with that UPS number, and seeing that there was an 'aircraft/truck failure' doesn't make me feel any better :(

Try the 10 digit (starting with '80') "Delivery Reference Number" you would have received in the "Your Apple Order has been Dispatched" email on this page: http://www.apecode.com/appletrack

aha, that appletrack website is great. Exactly the info I was looking for.

FLEXTRONICS LOGISTICS UK., DAVENTRY, GB

80********* 000020 W80****** 1 Z0DQ0002P 1

02 nov 06 32 05 Flight Booked Apple Shanghai 07 nov 06
01 nov 06 00 04 Picking confirmed, EDI received Apple Shanghai
01 nov 06 30 63 handover at supplier Apple Shanghai 07 nov 06
01 nov 06 30 64 Departed from source Kuehne & Nagel Shanghai 07 nov 06

the last date on each line (07 nov 06) is the ETA.

how do you get that level of detail? all I can see is:
31 okt 06 32 55 flight departed Apple Shanghai 03 nov 06
27 okt 06 30 64 Departed from source Kuehne & Nagel Shanghai 03 nov 06

or is it just that those events have not happened to my 'puter yet?

yeah true! but for about 3 days, all I could see was the first line "departed from source" etc, only seemed to fly out today. I'm not convinced K&N are very up-to-date on the status of shipments. But some info is better than none :)

optimistically, hoping for early next week. am a little annoyed that regent st already have them - apple webstore said it could be 2 weeks, which is why i went through them. but they gave me a pretty good price, so i should be happy with that lol.

and to be fair, not many ppl in the UK seem to have them already...i guess we're all doing pretty good huh?

Can't complain, can't complain.

And if I had have gone in to Regent Street I'm sure I wouldn't have gotten the education discount (I'm no longer a student) plus a bit extra off because the guy I talked to on the phone was nice :>

Mine was shipped this morning, but status doesnt seem to have changed. On the TNT website it finds my shipment, but it just says dest: Not found which is slightly annoying. I dont see why they have to ship them to Holland First. Would be alot quicker if they just ship them direct to the UK.

Yeah, I got a really good deal talking to the guy on the phone, he gave me my corporate discount without going through any rigmarole, which was helpful (cos i lost my ID pass). very helpful chaps...i think next time I buy hardware, I'll definitely be talking to them - they seem willing & keen to make deals to get sales.

For us here in the UK it would be quicker if they had a distribution centre in england, but I guess they have to think about the supply chain as a whole. Although the UK is a big market for them, I expect its more convenient having a collation point on the continent that can easily service Europe & UK, so that they only need to cross the channel for the goods that need to go there. I work in transport & logistics, and we've got similar problems - unfortunately, at the end of the day its just better, cheaper, & more efficient to have major hubs that split out & distribute like spokes on a wheel, than to have many smaller distribution points.

would have been better for us if they chose to put in in the UK, but I guess they have the european market to think about as well.

They have them in the Regents Street Store as of yesterday. I was in when they brought the new ones out.

Thanks
I have just called the store, unfortunately they won’t let me reserve one over the phone (stupid)....I hope to find one tonight

hey, now my tracker info says :

02 nov 06 40 69 accept scanned at EDC Apple Shanghai 03 nov 06
31 okt 06 32 55 flight departed Kuehne & Nagel Shanghai 03 nov 06
27 okt 06 30 64 Departed from source Kuehne & Nagel Shanghai 03 nov 06

Anyone know what "Accept scanned at EDC" means? As shipping point it still says Apple shanghai, do you think its overly optimistic that EDC = European Distribution Centre?

From the appletrack FAQ.

4. What is the EDC, and why is it important?
EDC is the TNT "European Distribution Center". This means that once the status is "Accept scanned at EDC", TNT has received the package. This is when things start to happen, and you can expect to have it in 1-3 days.

Guess that means you're in luck ;)

maybe they've just updated it slightly ahead of time? would seem unlikely tho. possibly it means "final destination" for that leg, ie. reached the last depot?

I ordered a MBP that arrived last Tuesday, just as the new version was updated :p

I of course RMA'd it immediately and that has finally gone through today. Woo.

In the end for £95 I've gone from

2.16Ghz/1G/100G CD MBP --> 2.33Ghz/2G/160G C2D MBP.

I think that's a reasonably good deal in the end.

Getting close.

Mine now has walsh western as the courier. These guys deivered my dell monitor and in fact their tracking system is totally dell orientated?!I presume they are now taking it to UPS to merge with rest of my goods then it will get dispatched from there. If they work through the night and its in the UK I'd assume there is a chance I'd get it tomorrow, if not it'll be monday.
