i was really hoping with iOS 12 we’d finally get the Always On Display for the XS/XS Max. With a OLED Display I just can’t see why Apple has yet to even test it in a beta iOS.

But Samsung makes our OLED Display and they have offered it for years with no battery issues
I don’t see a need for it ( for myself). The phone lights up with a call or notification etc. if I want to know the time, I look at my watch or ask Siri what the time is etc.
I don’t think it’s a battery issue but more of screen burn-in issues with OLED
No....I get why people kinda want it on the watch, but I can't figure out why I would want always on, on my phone.
Not a issue on the Galaxy phones.
I just think it’s a nice feature to just glance at the screen without having to turn the whole display on, especially in darker lit surroundings
The 2 weeks I had the Note 7 a few years ago, it was a really useful feature and it allowed you to display more than only the time.
Pixel shifting........Samsung has it on their OLED....No burn in.
Yes. I'd love to have the option of having my phone docked on my desk, always displaying time and date. And I'd guess it will be a part of iPhone 11 and iOS 13.
Yup and led notification... but Apple wants you to buy their watch for easy notifications. Would be nice not to have to pick up the phone just to see if you have a message.
An always on display would be nice but it's been mitigated by the tap to wake feature on the newer iPhones.

Always on display doesnt cause burning. Every minute it switch position to a different part of the screen. Doesnt drain much battery. And u see all ur notification avail at all time without waking up the phone. Apple will probably never do it. There answer will be... get an apple watch
May not be for everyone but having the option would be nice.
AOD is one of the reasons I switched. I work in loud environments sometimes and having that / led light is helpful without compulsively waking the phone or taking it off the Qi charger. Little to no impact on battery and adjusts with ambient light and turns off the screen when it detects when face down or in pocket/purse.
Aside from that its best use for me is checking time between sleep and not wanting to be blinded.

I wouldn’t be against it and would be useful at night to check how long I have to get up but bet that light would annoy me. Certainly the misses

You realize it can be setup as an option. Android phones have a way to turn them off for those that don’t want it. All I want is the option.
Look like people here dont understand how AOD works.....
And that right there is why I don’t think Apple will ever implement it. They want to push Watch sales.
For those without a watch, it can be extremely useful.
