They’ll announce it in iOS 15 and make it seem revolutionary lol. Always on display wowwwwww

Your overly exaggerated satire aside, that’s exactly what people were saying about ‘dark mode’, and now here it is. So what’s my point? Apple is never early to the game with anything, that means hardware and software implementation. They don’t have to be and I don’t think an ‘always on displays’ is entirely necessary, when you can tap the display/raise to wake, and in similar fashion for the Apple Watch, with raise to wake.

It’s not a necessary feature. Just a nice to have feature imo.

There are many features from android that have migrated to iOS and that’s awesome but Apple do tend to lag behind innovative-ly speaking and when they do finally bend to pressure for refresh, new features seem to be given begrudgingly so.

The bolded in your post summarizes it nicely, it’s not a necessity, it’s just a convenience feature. Raise to wake I think suffices for many, and if we were to see an ‘always on display’, I suspect it would be implemented into watchOS before the iPhone, simply because I think that specific device would make the most sense being it’s a watch.
