Why does this crap happen to me? Why do I notice it? Why does it bother me?

Anyone else have chips or damages on their stainless steel edges? I have one I can feel quite prominently with my fingernail just below the antenna line and above the silence switch.

You knew this thread was coming eventually, so here it is...

I'm busier now than I ever have been and even though I now live 8 minutes from an Apple Store I think I'll keep it. Old me would have returned this for a new one. New me has no more F's left to give or the time to give them. Just bugs when an Apple flagship device isn't perfect.

Set up a return and mail it back. It’s easy. Don’t even need to provide an explanation. Just send it back and buy another one.

Yes mine is. I am not happy at all. So far the option is to mail it back and wait for a new one.

That one would definitely annoy the heck out of me and that does warrant a return and exchange in my books. If you live near the apple store you could check stock to see if there is any availability.
I don’t live near an Apple store so that’s not an option.

Amen... a big ding on the screen out of the gate like that would be a showstopper for me.

Mine is 100% aesthetic and doesn't hinder any viewing or function. I have AppleCare+ so I may just rock this thing caseless until me or someone in my house destroys it, and pay the price to get a new one. I always, always pay to get a new screen and a new battery at the end of the 2 years(if it doesn't qualify for free, which my 11 Pro just did at 78%). That way my folks get a nice, mostly fresh phone.

**Side note, I did just notice a second larger chip to the right of the antenna near the mic at the bottom. FML.

Well hopefully you can exchange for one at the Apple store. If you can’t you have to send the phone back and wait for a replacement to come which takes about 10 business days for the whole thing to be done. There is no stock left at the Apple store that’s a 5 hour round trip away from me.

Honestly, the 3-4 hours of restoring is not worth starting over to me. They don't have any 512 or 1TB at the store 8 min away. There is a gold 1TB at the store 20 min away, but I really am liking this graphite.

LOL, just looked at my 11 pro camera "bump" to compare midnight green after looking at the 13 pro. It looked so teeny tiny.

@Pinkdaisy I think you can call Apple Support and they will get one on order for you and let you use that one until they can send a replacement if you live that far away. I lived 92 miles away from the nearest store when I think it was an iPhone 4 I got on launch day that was damaged. They sent the replacement and I sent the damaged one back once I got the replacement. I remember them looking up the distance to the nearest store to see if I qualified. This was a while ago.

They only do that (express replacement) if you have Apple Care + now. I had to have my iPhone X replaced due to a gap between the bezel and the frame (it came like that) and I barely got them to approve it without Apple Care.

I purchased AppleCare and it’s apple’s policy for damaged items that they be returned first and once the item is received a replacement is sent out. Nothing like punishing the customer for sending out a damaged product.

2nd time in a row. First iPhone 12 pro max in gold ( pics are in my album) and today the 13PM on silver. Alas the 13PM it's just one tiny area of the frame.

I have this weird blemish. I tried to rub it off with my finger and then also rub it off with my nail. No change.

That's BS respectfully , I tried that last year. All they told me was to return it back to store or we'll send you a return label under the 14 day period. In the end I drove and bought another and returned the duff one. The replacement then had a green tint OLED 🤣
So this bloody year I'm living with my microscopic gouge on the stainless steel frame. Like OP stated, QC needs a slap around the ears.

I agree it’s total BS. I live 5 hours round trip from the nearest Apple store and they don’t have any in stock anyways. Phones are shipping until the end of October right now so FML.

Lol, not BS. Thought it might be worth a shot. I did give the disclaimer that it was the iPhone 4…

That was like 3/4 of a Trillion dollars ago. They didn’t make all that money by easily replacing terrible QC phones it would seem.

Oh no not about you. Just that the policy Has changed and now the customer is punished

Ohhh. Yep, that is 100% Horse 💩

If you pay to get a product shipped to you and it is defective/damaged, you should get a new one shipped to you. Basic customer service.

I received my 13 mini today with the box already opened and the plastic film on the front already removed. Now my local store is of course out of stock.

I would have expected when I call Apple tomorrow to have them send me a replacement and once arrived I can return this one, but based on this thread it sounds like they won’t be accommodating. Absolutely ridiculous.

Yikes I’m sorry. I was really excited following everyone on the shipping thread and feel bad some of you got damaged phones out of the box. For me last year it was weird green tinge to the displays with dark subjects in a dark room when watching videos.

I slapped the screen protector and case on so fast I didn’t even really look at the phone this time. I wanted to get them on there before a cat hair or a dust speck hit the surfaces! From what I can see of lifting the case edges it looks ok.

I did the raised blacks test and it seems ok there, too. Like I said, I already put up with that on my green 12 mini and my 12 Pro Max and decided I wasn’t putting up with it this time.
