Ohhh. Yep, that is 100% Horse 💩

If you pay to get a product shipped to you and it is defective/damaged, you should get a new one shipped to you. Basic customer service.
I just hope that those scuffs on the edge of the stainless steel frame isn’t due to some rogue individual opening up random devices somewhere along the line. The area is where the screen is opened from. Like I said this is the second time I’ve personally come across this type of defect.

The other thing that might be worth mentioning. The two tabs used to open the box. Mine just gently pulled away complete in one piece , did this occur for anyone else !

The security seals.

I received my 13 mini today with the box already opened and the plastic film on the front already removed. Now my local store is of course out of stock.

I would have expected when I call Apple tomorrow to have them send me a replacement and once arrived I can return this one, but based on this thread it sounds like they won’t be accommodating. Absolutely ridiculous.
What do you mean the box was already opened? No 13s were shipped with plastic around the box or plastic film on the screen.

I have requested to speak with a supervisor and I am waiting for a call back.

I have never had any issues with a brand new iPhone (touch wood), always been pristine condition and I don’t go looking too hard for any problems as I will always see it then 🤣

Why does this crap happen to me? Why do I notice it? Why does it bother me?

Anyone else have chips or damages on their stainless steel edges? I have one I can feel quite prominently with my fingernail just below the antenna line and above the silence switch.

You knew this thread was coming eventually, so here it is...

I'm busier now than I ever have been and even though I now live 8 minutes from an Apple Store I think I'll keep it. Old me would have returned this for a new one. New me has no more F's left to give or the time to give them. Just bugs when an Apple flagship device isn't perfect.
If anyone is paying 1000$ for a phone and you get something like that just get a replacement if you payed for a car and the windscreen was chipped you wouldn't accept it

These threads are bound to pop up at some point during every launch. Simply put it’s a mass produced item which none are perfect. Even if you think yours is, there would be someone that nit picks something wrong with it that you didn’t see. I have learned over the years to have a little more tolerance and don’t go looking for issues. I used to literally spend so much time examining it upon opening it that I was literally looking for something wrong instead of just enjoying the new phone. In my experience, when you start to play the return lottery you can ultimately end up with a device that is in worse shape or something else wrong than you have now. So pick your battles accordingly. Not to mention all the time wasted going back and forth to the store. That being said, I get it as you are paying too dollar for a flagship device you want to be the one that makes the first mark not it coming out of the box that way. It’s your right within the 14 days to make that call. Otherwise, just enjoy your new phone.

Return it. It’s unacceptable for a so called premium device. QA is there for a reason. Wondering since the iPhone is practically naked in the box (other than a sticker protecting the screen), it allows fine particles that might get in to scuff it. Or the QA process is just crap.

The UPS box had the tape torn and then more tape added to seal it back up. The iPhone box itself now has two pull tabs on the back to seal the phone and one of those tabs was already missing. The phone was also missing the factory plastic film that is on the front of the display and was covered in dust.

Same thing happened to me in the same spot. Had to return it last night to ensure I get my credit when trading in.

Frustrating since I couldn’t make another order since it’s showing sold out everywhere now.

Think I have a mark on my camera lens not sure what it is. It’s on the top left camera not on any of the other cameras. Pic was taken on an iPhone 11 sorry for the quality if anyone could help me. If you zoom in you should see it.

Yes mine is. I am not happy at all. So far the option is to mail it back and wait for a new one.

This happened to me with my launch day 11Pro Max. Three deep chunks out of the glass under the protector. Protector wasn’t damaged so it was manufacturing. Had to send it back and wait two months for the replacement because of the back orders for the green.

Got a free leather case for the inconvenience though…but had pre-ordered for nothing.

The only imperfection I feel on the front of the screen is where the stainless steel bands kind of hit the front that’s it on my phone. Now I looked at my 12 Pro Max because now I have the 13 promax and it was the same way. But it sounds like your issue is not where the bands hit the front of the phone sounds like you have other scratches or indentations there

I have a small scrape in the stainless steel band right next to the bottom left antenna band on the edge that meets the screen. I took a fine tip permanent marker and colored over it. Now it doesn’t shine when the light hits. I really don’t want to go through the hassle of getting a replacement.

I don't think it's normal. It won't come off and it was there prior to me touching the edges.
Oof, sorry to hear that. Maybe try some isopropyl alcohol? My gold 12 Pro got smudges that looked like that and only come off with the soft cloth. My family’s Pacific blue iPhones got them the worst. I thought it was the same kind of discoloration.

I took my phone out of the box and right away before even turning on I put a screen protector on and and inserted into the case.

I am not sure when Apple started putting only a sticker on the front, however I miss the plastic. Being able to turn on the phone and at least start the restore before worrying about a screen protector is a game changer. I don’t want anything touching the screen before putting a screen protector on it.
