Just ordered the AirPods Pro!
Looking forward to getting them and hopefully I get a pair with no major issues

What do you clean the tips with to make them clean and not turn yellow/full of wax?

Long time lurker here. I have been following the discussion here and in another thread about the fit test of the APP since the 2C54 update. Having access to APPs with either software version, I tested the microphone cleaning method (sticky tape instead of bluetack) on both 2C54 and on 2B588 and I found that while clogged microphones really limit the performance of ANC and the APPs overall, the software version does make no discernible difference (to my ears), even when A/B-ing them in different noisy situations. I wrote a lengthy post about it on reddit, but that sums it about up.

The forum automatically converts the reddit link, this is the best I could do:

Agreed 100%. I had the same problem with one ear sounding off in transparency mode and little to no difference when NC was enabled. Cleaned the grills with isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush (used a hairdryer to warm up the grills, which were likely filled with ear wax, etc) and it completely restored the functionality of my pair. Unfortunately, this cleaning requirement seems like this is a shortcoming of the design, but I highly doubt that the diminished NC performance is related to anything other than a needed microphone grill cleaning.

Warm, soapy water. And you can gently use BluTak on those as well.
I have heard blu tac isn't the best as it pushes the wax further down rather than removing it

Dip the toothbrush into the alcohol bottle?

The reason why I'm asking soo many questions is that I've never spent that much on headphones so I want to make sure I look after them and they last me a couple fo years at least.

I’ve had good experience with it. You can’t just jam it on. You have to gently apply it so it adheres to the, um, undesirable material.

Just received two replacement AirPods Pro. Firmware is 2b588 on both. Tested for 2 minutes, anc seems better but it could be a placebo effect really. I hope they fix the crackling sound on the left bud and the endless connectivity issues and microphones awful quality..

I am scared lol
Should I cancel my order and get the normal AirPods?

Are there that many problems?

For every person that has an issue, there is probably 1000 that don't.

You have 15 days to try them out. Get them and try them for the entire 15 day period. Then decide.

Please... don’t base your decisions based on what you read here. Not that the issues here aren’t real. But I don’t think they are representative of the entire universe of users. Get them, use them and if they don’t meet your needs, send them back during the return period.

Exactly don’t base your decision on what you read on a forum because if I didn’t have any issue I wouldn’t be here writing about how good they are.. but for me it’s only one issue after the other: awful mic quality and people telling me they can’t hear me, for hey Siri I’ve to scream like a psychopath on the street, one bud not activating 5 times out of 10, buds out of sync, mic not turning on so I can’t call, to fix those issues I’ve to put them back in the case and wait a few seconds. Not a big deal you would say? Try when you are driving or rushing to answer a call... I reset them at least 50 times. I clean them every night and I’m at the third pair....

AND I tried with my 11 pro and the work phone 6s.

I had issues with the left pod disconnecting a few times an hour so I returned them for a refund. Bought a new pair a month later and this one’s working just fine except for maybe a couple disconnects in almost a month. No other issue beyond that so I figured it was just a faulty pair that I got before.

I did the same, refund and new pair. Now after 3/4 months I have the same issues and I just got another replacement. I bought garbage for $400 (Australian dollars), I feel like a fool

Lucky you. This is my third pair. I asked for a full refund but there is no way.
I'm on my third pair as well. Received the latest replacements two weeks ago. Last night, the ANC and Transparency modes stopped working. They wouldn't toggle at all. The only fix was to unpair and re-pair. Here we go again...

Curious if anyone having issues has a jailbreaked iPhone?
Last time I had a jailbreaked iPhone it was in 2010 with the iPhone 4 because I wanted Siri..

Yep had that issue too. That’s a software issue I guess tho and it doesn’t surprise me at all seeing the trend with their software

Well my replacement pros, (from late Feb) are in the same boat as the originals. The effectiveness of ANC has degraded to me listening to every footstep I take and loud mufflers seemingly amplified a mile down the street.

I do think its a hardware (microphone) thing. As the firmware hasn't changed since I got them.
Time to clean these things and see what happens.
