That tongue on the device looks so flimsy I may switch to induction which is hard on batteries (heat). On the other hand....the studies show it seems to hold up ok but I know people who lost phones that way.
I use MagSafe at least 95% of the time to charge and my 14 Pro Max and it gets only slightly warm so I'm not sure what you mean by heat being hard on the batteries. Regardless, I've been charging it this way for almost a full year and my battery health is listed as 98%. (Just checked the settings app right now to verify.) I am using Belkin chargers that are MagSafe certified if that matters.

So it’s not an entirely solid Titanium chassis, cheaped out on in the inside with Alumium so it’s basically a Titainum veneer! 😂
A fully titanium chassis would be a thermal management disaster. Aluminum was needed for that purpose, not to mention the problems with tiny screw threads in titanium, screw galling, and many other issues that would be caused. Aluminum in the chassis is simply better engineering.

Question, who is waiting for next years 6.9” Titanium Ultra iPhone 16 ?

I think this is going to be me. Whether or not that actually comes to fruition is a different story. But I’m still on the fence with the 15.

The same design for 4 generations straight, unreal
What exactly is it that you find wrong with the design that more than a billion users like?

I am being serious here. Ask me that question about Macbook Pros and I will rant away about more TB4 ports.

Black iPhone 15 Pro Max for me. And I'll be keeping it for three years like my iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The main thing I wanted was USB-C. So with that... I'll be happy for a while.

Air Pods Pro 2 with USB-C might be in my future too.

😎
Yep, the big reason for me moving from a 13 Pro to the 15 Pro Max is larger display and battery, and USB-C. The titanium, action button, camera upgrades, processor, are all nice-to-haves. I went with natural titanium. In my pre-order queue on Apple Store, just ready to complete on Friday morning. Pretty excited.

A lot of very weirdly salty people in here
Nothing weird about it.

It's just.... Apple continuously fail to not blatantly, horrendously, deliberately hamstring their products in the name of profits.

E.g. the USB-C data transfer speeds.

USB-C 4 / Thunderbolt 4 runs at 40 Gbps, and I have it on my 2021 M1 Pro 16" MBP.
Intel just released Thunderbolt 5 at 80 Gbps.

And yet, here we have Apple FINALLY bringing USB-C to the iPhone.... and we get:
iPhone 15 with 0.48 Gbps USB 2 speeds. A tech that was released in 2000. 23 years ago. Same speed as Lightning.
iPhone 15 Pro with 10 Gbps USB 3.1 speeds. Released in 2013. 10 years ago.

So what has that got to do with profits? So that next year's iPhone 16/16 Pro can be bumped up to the next speed iteration, e.g.
iPhone 16 with 5 Gbps USB 3.0 speeds. From 2008. 15 years ago.
iPhone 16 Pro with 20 Gbps USB 3.2 speeds. From 2017. 6 years ago.

THIS is just one example of why we are constantly salty.

It's a love/hate relationship. Rarely is anything else better than an Apple product, and yet the Apple products could be sooooo much better. AND, the extra production cost to make them better would be next to nothing. The cost difference between USB 2 -> USB 3.0 -> etc would be measured in cents per phone. These are deliberate design limitations, made for no reason other than to push people to upgrade to the next iteration of the drip feed of frustration. Profits above all else.

Same. I was wondering if it was just me or if it is indeed incredibly boring this year. They try to pass every little, useless thing as over the top and it is just off-putting.
And some of the little things were available in Android years ago. And Android now have better, faster versions. E.g. USB-C.

Super boring. And USB-C just made it even worse.
First, I’m a year or more away from the 15 or whats next. My 13Pro recently finished it's 2 year payment plan and I’m enjoying the low cellular bill. Meanwhile paying off my new Ultra watch 2!
As far as USB C, I have been waiting for a cable to straighforwardly connect to my Mac or any external drive, PC, plus a lot else ever since the first Iphone. Even if Apple doesn’t support open connectivity within IOS using the USB C, third party vendors will come up with something. I’m looking forward to a simple and cheap app or hopefully IOS to move all files/backups around at will and fast!

I already bought a case and screen protector for my new iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Super excited coming from 13 Pro, hope I don't regret upsizing.

I LOVE the Natural Titanium, I have always gone for White/Silver but this colour looks sooooo good.

I'll be curious to see how fingerprinty the titanium gets. Many are happy to see the stainless steel go for this reason but stainless steel can be easily wiped clean. Titanium not so much. It looks great at the beginning but has a tendency to leave ghost prints over time. I noticed this on my Apple Watch 5 and on some cameras I've used with titanium. Obviously this will bother some more than others.

There is just nothing compelling about the Iphone15/pro for me to upgrade from the 12pro.

I don't use my phone as much as I do the macbook pro/ipad pro.

The colors are so boring too.

Zzzz

The iPhone 14 Pro transfers files to a computer at 60 MB/s

People complain "It's too slow!"

The iPhone 15 Pro transfers files to a computer at 1,000 MB/s

People complain "It's not Thunderbolt!"

Some people will never be happy.

🤣

which Apple says is its most advanced stabilization system yet
Of course it has to be the "most advanced" because it is the latest. What else would Apple marketing say? -_-
or record ProRes video directly to an external storage drive
Yeah, those external storage would absolutely be properly secured by that USB port and there would be no chance of being cut power mid-recording, and iOS 17 has all the safety measures we can think of to protect the storage device and data. We definitely, totally can trust Apple on this one. -_-
automatically detects when there's a subject in the frame, allowing you to switch to Portrait mode after an image has been taken
Oh god, pls DO NOT literally auto-switch to portrait whenever something suitable for portrait just pass by. I DO NOT want to take a photo and be forced to switch out of portrait mode right afterwards. To this day I am still baffled that iPad camera defaults to portrait mode and front facing camera every time I want to use it.
Audio quality for calls has been updated with a more advanced machine learning model that prioritizes your voice.
Not only prioritize your voice, but also intelligently recognize you are saying and adapt the microphone to do certain things? e.g. "Hey, time to let you hear all the sound of nature" and automatically amplify the background sound?
Console games like Resident Evil 4 can now be played on the iPhone.
Key word being "can be played", no guarantee to experience of course.
And, iPhone is a terrible gaming device unless you have 20/20 eyesight.

While I obviously like that Apple finally phased out Lightning and switched the iPhone to USB-C, the company decided not to develop a new battery setup that can take advantage of the extra power that direct USB PD offers as compared to the previous USB-C to Lightning implementation of USB PD. The only difference is the fact that you do not have to switch cables anymore to power the iPhone vs other devices.

For me personally, the new features are probably a worthwhile upgrade from my 11 pro but if I had a 12/13/14, I likely wouldnt bother.

USB-C is a big deal when I can use the same cable to charge my iPad, laptop, gimbal, gopro and now phone So that’s a worthwhile upgrade there.

Camera bump between 11 and 15 is going to be decent, especially with the new zoom. I use a DJI gimbal so my iphone is my main camera.

Not overly fussed about the titanium but it’s handy.

Transfer speeds don’t bother me, my ipad is my main video device and I just let my images and videos upload to icloud before editing on the ipad anyway.

Wether it’s worthwhile upgrading will depend on each persona circumstances
