Is the A17 a bit underwhelming? They didn’t mention 3nm and the CPU and GPU gains seem modest. Does it bode poorly for the M3 chip?
They explicitly mentioned 3nm, a completely new micro architecture (that’s big news even in its own), and a completely new GPU architecture, hardware Ray Tracing, etc.

I don’t know how you missed all that, but without that knowledge I can see how it would appear underwhelming. I for one am not in the market for a new phone, but these changes mean BIG things for the Macs…

"The ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ Max's telephoto camera offers 5x optical zoom at 180mm focal length"

I believe he said 120 mm. This was less than anticipated.
180mm or higher is a bit too much for portraits, which is what they showed off the most. 85mm-135mm are classic focal lengths for prime lens portraits. 120mm is a good call.

I don't get the people complaining about USB-C. I use it everyday day for years on my tablets phone, laptops, desktops and never had any issues. Also tia Apples fault if they use a slower version of it. That's just them being cheap. I'm sure I'd they really cared they could have figured a way for it to use Thunderbolt.
Honestly I didn't expect them to use Thunderbolt and I thought it was really far fetched for anybody to suggest it. USB 3 is pretty good, we could have gotten USB 2 speeds, and knowing Apple, they'd say "most advanced, best, sugar on top ever" for pigeon carrier data rates.

I'd be happy with 10Gbps backups and sync.

The TiBooks were sort of a brown-colored gray IIRC. Personally I am hoping for more of a gray-colored gray for the 15 Pros.
Brown colored gray from my perspective is a old fashion color. Reminds me to my grandma. I like her but…

The closer pics look like a grey colored grey. If it’s like that, it’s my color.

Spatial Videos must have a terrifying file size if iCloud storage went from 2TB max to 12TB max in one keynote.
I don't think these spacial videos are going to be very good. If you see how close the two cameras are they will be filming almost the same thing except for subjects that are very close to the phone. It would make much more sense for there to be a camera on each end of the phone and there is enough length to have them about as far apart as our eyes are and the result would be more natural and pick up depth of subjects further away. There may also be compromises with how they have to merge the two different focal length cameras.

This doesn’t change the fact that it will probably be a barely compressed double stream of video. Probably 4K at 60fps as well. Also the 3DS took videos with a decent amount of depth with a similar camera distance.

The only Pro feature I use is ProMotion. After using it for a year, I almost get dizzy with I try scrolling on my wife's 14 Plus. I guess I'll get another Pro this year, but as soon as the base model gets 120hz I'll never buy a Pro again.

I skipped the 14 and held onto my 13 pro max. Seeing the announcement today, I have zero regrets getting the Pixel Fold instead of the 15 pro max.

Since my first iPhone 3G, this is the first time I've skipped 2 generations (most of the time have upgraded every year). Some of the updates today were nice, but the iPhone is very mature now and upgrades simply are no longer very attractive.

I hope blue becomes a "regular" color in the Pro lineup. Sierra Blue was by far my favorite iPhone color (and why it makes it so hard for me to upgrade)

Well, I think Apple should upgrade the cabling material to a more durable version as I just purchased my 5th Apple lightning cable due tearing…What a joke…
Materials used are environmentally friendly not as toxic as PVC where the cheaper cables used. Blame physics and the human body for giving you a weak cable. Either that or blame yourself for continuing to buy Apple cables where the third party manufacturers are using more durable and toxic PVC materials.

The smoother sides, look, less weight, *and* higher price 🤣
Higher price? I always get the 256gb pro max - so in actuality - there was no price bump - Apple was able to increase revenue by dropping the 128gb model and since memory is so darned cheap - maybe $3 bucks for the extra 128gb - they were able to make most of the buyers worried about a price increase - pretty happy there isn't one. Effectively.

These are the ugliest colours yet on the Pros, all so manly! I was due to upgrade from my 13 Pro to the 15 Pro but jumped to the 14 Pro just last month, I really wanted that Deep Purple. None of the new tech features of the 15 Pro appeal to me (couldn’t care less about USB-C), so it looks like I made the right choice for me.
