They say it increases battery life substantially. Thus, the first version exceeds the Broadcom chip already! You've not even used it -- how you can be impressed by it?

see probably shoulda researched a lil more or waited more patiently.Oops, now I see the silicone case options
Seems like they're updating things by the minute. When I go to the compare iPhone page, it says that the 16 E does indeed have SOS or satellite connectivity. Never mind![]()
I'm not sure I'm completely buying it. The C1 modem chip probably contributes to increased battery life, yes, but the phone is also much larger, and likely has a much larger battery to match. My guess is much of the improved battery life is due to that. They say it increases battery life substantially. Thus, the first version exceeds the Broadcom chip already!
It was discontinued last year in several markets. And it's now discontinued everywhere.iPhone 14 discontinued?
Economy. What does the "e" even mean?
Unfortunately yesiPhone 14 discontinued?
You're right. The chips in these phones have been overkill for most people for years now. You need to run benchmarks to even know there's a difference. The only practical benefit is improved power efficiency, not performance.Agreed heck in spite of what

I feel like the iPhone 11, 8, XR
12 , 13 and SE 2 & 3
All hold up pretty well and work pretty well of course some better than others but still all solid devices for their ages
I think the issue is Apple always treated the smaller phone as a 'cheaper crappier version of a big phone', rather than a product in its own right, with innovations or features uniquely suited to a small phone. Consider a tweaked, more focused UI, a rear side swiper surface, or other things fitting that setup. Maybe, god forbid, something less slippery to highlight one-handed use. You’re probably right, but on this Forum LOTS of us want a smaller phone! I guess we’re all geeks.

Someone probably assumedThere should be a disclaimer that says "Not for Gaming" with the downgraded GPU 😅
That would be a big, BIG win for Apple. The iPhone 5c was #2 / #3 in sales in the US for several months. The other two phones in the top three were the iPhone 5S and the Samsung Galaxy S4.At this price point, it will be an iPhone 5c level success.

I dunno how much of an offering it is for that but the wholeApparently just wanted to create a truly budget offering for carriers to toss out to people, or use as a price anchor to drive upgrades to something much better
$600, which is more than I'd care to pay. Larger phone, which is not what I'd care to have in my pocket. But I probably would've talked myself into it, were it not for their decision to leave off MagSafe.
Luckily the 17 and 17 Pro are coming this year. Apple is perfectly happy to wait for you to spend even more money on one of those.I was considering the iPhone 16e as an "upgrade" from my iPhone 13 Pro, mainly as a stopgap until Apple releases a more interesting premium device like an iPhone Air or Flip. The idea of a larger OLED display, improved battery life, and a 48MP camera made it seem like a decent option.
However, the missing features and price point make this a non-starter for me. The lack of MagSafe is disappointing, and while the new C1 modem sounds promising, I’d rather wait and see how it performs in real-world use before making the jump. The binned GPU is another concern, especially when coming from a Pro model.
As for Apple Intelligence support, it’s just not that interesting to me—at least for now. I don’t see it offering anything compelling enough to justify an upgrade. Starting at $599, the iPhone 16e doesn’t strike the right balance of price and features, so I’d rather stick with my iPhone 13 Pro and wait for something truly innovative.
Welcome to the clubI guess, when they finally get bad enough, we'll simply re-battery our iPhone SE (2020)'s.
I'm becoming a bit dis-enamored of Apple, lately.
The phones are shipped from Asia anyway. So there should not be higher duties or shipping, regardless of whether they go to the US or Europe. If anything, US duties might be higher. For the base model price of 599 dollars, this equates to £476.40 at the current exchange rate. Whereas the base model in the UK is £599I know there will be some import duties on the phone, along with shipping charges, but they certainly won't add up to £122.60 Apple!!
Sorry but you sound like 1 of those shareholders…People complaining about a price increase sound seriously entitled, lol. All these tech improvements (SoC, modem, battery, larger display, OLED, USB-C, camera, FaceID, satellite connectivity to name a few) for a measly $100 price increase? We’ve had about 30% compounded inflation in the last several years, so this is actually more like a price cut. Apple (and us shareholders) have eaten the cost of inflation for far too long! These will sell like hotcakes, and be free with carrier promotions / trade-in.

Guess we’ll have to wait anMy guess is 60% of the negative Ned’s in here will be posting in the day 1 thread with their new shiny phone 😂
