Man you add this to an iPad Pro and you're past the price of an M3 MacBook Air.

This is something I do not understand myself. It is a less capable device than the M4 Macbook Air will be so why is it more expensive? Might be the screen that makes the price so high... Who knows if that is really worth it. I will have to reserve judgement until I see it in person.

For most people iPad Pro is a more versatile device. Much better for artists, for example. Everyone has a different use case, but this iPad is a great piece of hardware. And the software is powerful and usable for 99% of consumers.
Hardly. A laptop will have more varied and more powerful software. All versions of the various creative software I use is crippled on the iPad. Infuriatingly so at times with basic functionality missing and general lack of tool parity. Heck even the basic calculator was missing until very recently and the lack of an iPad app for Whatsapp is just baffling. But yes it is good for literally drawing on, but creatives who draw have used tablets and pens on screens since before the iPad existed.
I'm beginning to think my replacement iPad will be a far more usable MacBook Air. Which if it had a touch screen that folded back on itself, would make the iPad Pro completely redundant. Heck, I just checked and for same price [£2,899] I could buy a pretty highly high specced MBP. Madness.

how come they don't show much pics of the new Magic Keyboard with the 13 inch iPad?? Does this keyboard size gets bigger keys or just have more space to be comfortable?

I have the 11 inch pro from 2018 with the Magic Keyboard and it feels very small

Capability depends on what the device is used for in workflow. MBA for me is a toy.

I doubt the size changed much from 12.9 to 13 IPad Pro MKB.

Way past MBA,, it’s in MBP territory. iPad Air is now the old iPad Pro.
IPad Air is the sweet spot now. Apple’s pencil lineup now makes sense (Apple Pencil Pro for the new Air and Pro, Apple Pencil USB-C for all current models. The Pencils 1 and 2 stay around only for users of iPads no longer offered for sale as new). Too bad the new Magic Keyboard is only for the new Pro. Apple still has too many keyboard options.

Nope, the accessory lineup is now a bigger mess than the iPad lineup was. Nothing new or old for the accessory will work with each other.
This is the most frustrated I think I’ve been with Apple, maybe ever.

The whole thing with Apple is supposed to be that you buy into the ecosystem, so that you have ultimate compatibility, but then they keep artificially making products that aren’t even a year old obsolete and unable to use new accessories. This isn’t new, but this is by far the most egregious.

Seeing this case not being listed as compatible with the m2 iPad pros made me frustrated. When the Magic Keyboard first came out, it was compatible with the last one, even if the fit wasn’t perfect.

The pro pencil being limited to the new air and pro is outright outrageous. I have an iPad specifically because I love to draw. I do design for work and wish I could use proper cad (or even better revit, but that’s not even on the Mac). I just bought a new iPad last year because I finally wanted to take advantage of Apple silicon. Why the hell am I buying a new Apple product when literally a year later they are gonna stop making accessories that are compatible with it, just to force people to buy new products? It’s totally arbitrary, and I’m sure someone will say, “oh but it has this new tech that Apple couldn’t make it compatible with older models”… ********. There is no world where that is true. Not for the freakin pencil… I’m hoping it’s just poor language on the Apple Store app, because otherwise…

I don’t know how to justify buying into this system anymore. A 130$ accessory is bad enough, but making people who want to take advantage of it drop another $1000 is highway robbery. If they don’t announce full compatibility with MacOS apps at wwdc or something major to bring it in line with an actual productive device (which I’m sure if they do will be limited to M4) I might be done with iPad.

True. I have no need for fast FP16 processing and consider it a joke so the ML side of the chip is mostly dead-weight to me. I need a strong CPU and GPU for what I do so macOS is ideal for me.

Wow, you're right. For a second I though that maybe they discountinued some, but NO! All 4 pencils are still on sale, lol 😂

MBA has neither at sustained loads. My iPad Pro runs ML models better than MBA. YMMV. Now add M4, M3 MBA is just a toy.

It really undercuts the rationale used to justify their higher prices

They continually just absolutely screw even their highest paying customers

It's amazing to me how tolerant some folks are of this whole "scheme"
