they didn't really ask any during my interviews, but then again I'm iTunes chat. All they asked me was how often and in what capacity did I use iTunes. it definitely helps if you use Apple products but if not then I would just read up on the basics for whatever platform your position is for. The tech side is not really what they're interviewing on, it's more excitement and enthusiasm for Apple and the customer experience aspect...those are things that can't really be taught in training whereas the tech side can.

Thanks. Other than basic troubleshooting (and I mean very basic - we referred them to Apple for most things) of iPhones and iPads in previous jobs, I've had no experience besides an iPod several years ago - back when all they did was play music. Unfortunately, in the phone interview all he said was at home advisor and I didn't think to ask what platform. I'm just going to be honest with the fact that one of the big reasons I want to work for Apple is that I've always been on the service (cell carriers, major Internet providers) side and I want to learn more about troubleshooting actual devices. I chose Apple to apply for because all of customers and friends who have Apple love their products and I want to convert. I really hope that doesn't knock me out of the running, but it's the truth and I'm too terrible of a liar to pretend differently.

Yep best to tell the truth. They are really looking for empathy and customer service skills over anything else. My apple experience is limited to an iPad and an iPhone. Had never even seen an iMac until mine arrived last week (am a total convert now). From what I've gathered they don't want tech-heads. They can teach that. They want people who can provide exceptional customer service.

I have spent all week on this forum, glassdoor.com and apple.com preparing for my interview on Monday but I don't feel like I've learned much about Apple products. I've seen very few people talk about Apple specific questions they were asked in the second or third interview. Can anyone think of some? I've got the empathy part down, but I'm so paranoid I'm going to be asked about some device or software that I know nothing about and blow it.
Don't be paranoid... if you're going for an at home advisor position..basic troubleshooting knowledge is good enough and empathy is definitely key! They teach you about the products in training...

You definitely don't need to get too specific with the technical side of things. As everyone else has said they really are looking for your excitement and your empathy skills. They will look at your general troubleshooting skills - looking for the easy fixes first, is the problem happening all the time, is the problem happening on other devices, etc. If they mention a birthday, anniversary, wedding, etc. make sure to acknowledge whatever it is in some way. You will also need to think of examples from your work history that will fit the questions they ask. For example, tell me about a time when you received feedback from your boss at XYZ Company and what happened after that. You're on the right track with reviewing this forum and glassdoor.com.

Glassdoor was a huge help for me. I took all the questions/answer examples I could find from glassdoor and here to make a study sheet. It worked because I'm now just waiting on my BGC. My interviewer also commented that he didn't know if I was coached or what because all of my answers were very Apple like. I was caught off guard a little when he said that since I have a referral from a current Apple employee and didn't know what to say. In truth they didn't give me any specific info on the questions other than saying to make sure to put the customer first (using empathy). I really just studied the same things you're studying so keep doing what you're doing and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the encouragement and congrats on getting the offer! This has been the longest week of my life.

I wasn't asked any Apple specific questions. The questions I was asked were all general tech-type questions. However, I did read up on all the Apple devices directly on the Apple site, so I could at least be familiar with their functions. Also, I watched the Developers Convention Keynote Speech from June of 2015...that was probably the biggest help into gaining insight into the company vibe and the products and uses of the products. It's about 1.5 hours, but was the biggest help to me.

Just got done with my 3rd interview. I too am a pc troubleshooter my whole adult life. None of my questions were Apple specific. They were general...so if you know Bluetooth, WiFi, power issues....you will be fine. Like everyone said EMPATHY is the key.

I'm not sure if that is always true. A friend of mine was told that in the second interview, but didn't receive the rejection email for over a week. However, I have not heard of ANYONE being given a concrete offer, even contingent on bgc, at the end of the third interview. They always say you will hear back in 2-3 weeks

I think at this point I will over analyze everything. I need to do my best to distract myself. I'm going to go clean grout with a toothbrush now.;)

I noticed that they no longer have the application open on their website for apple home care. Does that mean they already finished choosing people? I haven't received a phone call or email and I applied on June 11th.

I still see it on the Apple site for my city. I got scared cause if it was gone then I did not make the cut most likely. Oops I was not supposed to be checking this....back to my grout!

I'm talking about after the 3rd interview... after the second they usually discuss next steps with you atleast mine did that's how I knew I had another interview...my friend who works for Apple told me hearing back with a call on one to two weeks is good after the last interview. It's the email response you need to be afraid of she said they usually send that like 24hrs afterwards.. but mine told me to feel free to followup if I haven't received a call by like 2 weeks... so I guess that's good too

Oh really? Thanks! I'll do that! I wonder why it takes so long for them to respond to people even though they approximate two weeks. :(
When I first applied it took 2-3 weeks before I got 1st call, and that was the mini interview.

Ah, okay. Well, I applied on June 11th. It'll be about a month this week. It is weird because I haven't received an email either. :/

I do not think there is a specific timeline for the initial phone call. At least that is what I have seen from my research.

yeah, I think you just have to get lucky and apply during a time that's active. I got my call maybe 2 hours after applying and I've heard sometimes it takes months.

Hi everyone. I'm posting on behalf of my husband. His background check was completed last Thursday and updated later that day to "Meets Company Standards". It's been extremely nerve-wrecking waiting for this final call. I can't seem to find the previous posts on how long it took to get the official offer call after the bgc. For those of you with your official offers, how long after the bgc cleared did you get the final call?
