I find your post disheartening, maybe its true, and I do appreciate that but it also discourages me as a new hire for Apple.. I wish I hadn't of read it cause I can't get it out of my head. I have good friends and family who work there in this role and love it, i hope that is the case for me too. I also have a family and children and have chosen to just work around this as I think its a great opportunity. I am not blind to the fact we have to give up the day of christmas, etc, we will celebrate another day/hour, but was it really all that bad besides that? I've read both ways and I truly hope it's a great experience for me!
I also thought the post was dishearting. I am also a new hire who went prn at my job to work at Apple. I am going in with a postivite mind frame. I have friends that work as an AHA and they all love it. Maybe its different working in chat, because they all get ar least 2 weekend off a month. I dont mind working hoildays because Im going in knowing I will be working them. good luck to u and a great future with Apple! We worked to hard to get where we are at now. Feel free to PM me if u like.

Alright, the post from a previous iTunes chat advisor was so depressing that I felt that I HAD to say something. I'm taking a risk here but it hurts me to see some of you guys be discouraged by that person's post.

I currently work for iTunes Chat and obviously I want to keep my job so I won't get into specifics because of the NDA.

My experience has been the complete opposite of the previous poster. They tell you from the beginning that yes, while this is a work from home job, you are Apple's employee and you have to work a set schedule.

I don't know what shift the previous poster has, but everyone gets 2-3 days off in their shift week. Not everyone works 11 hours, the majority of us work the basic 5 day, 40 hour shift week with breaks in between.

Apple operates 24/7/365 and they let you know of that in the beginning and they ask if you're okay with working holidays. So if you were not okay with working holidays, why did you accept the job?

Anyways, my experience has been great. Please don't let one disheartening post ruin your excitement for the job. I will not be posting after this, but I felt like I had to come here and say something positive.

Thanks.

Thanks for this! I've heard way more positive than negative about working for Apple. Just like anything in life, we will usually hear the negative more than the positive because the positive experiences are expected. The fact that I've read so many positive things about Apple's work at home experience shows me that they are going above and beyond. I'm sure it's not for everyone, but I just wanted to put that into perspective. If the majority of employees are stepping out of their comfort zones and praising the company then I definitely think they're doing something right.

I recently quit Apple after working in iTunes chat for 2 years. You will give up EVERY single Holiday, nights, days and weekends as well. After two years you bid on the same shifts as someone who just started it's crap! Received a very small raise in those 2 years as well. Worked every single weekend for the last year and a half 11 hour shifts at that. So if you're not willing to do that then it won't work out for you. I finally got sick of it and missed my kids, luckily I found another WAH job that pays more and is flexible so it worked out for me. The benefits are awesome but not worth not seeing your family over. The Holliday season is coming up and you can't even schedule time off from basically Thanksgiving to after new year because it's so busy NO DAYS off...Feel free to ask any questions I quit so don't have anything to lose now :)..Just because it's Apple doesn't mean it's perfect it's far from

I am currently working in iOS chat and started a couple months ago. What you are saying is incorrect. I have Sunday's off. I will not be required to work Thanksgiving because it is also one of my other days off. Why are you scaring people?
Thanks, appreciate your feedback! (wish I was going to chat, maybe one day!)

I'm not trying to scare anyone! I'm just telling you my experience! You have been working a couple of months so come back in a couple of years and give your experience. I LOVED my job which is why I stayed for two years, iTunes chat is all customer service and for the most part your customers are happy but it can be a little stressful at times taking a couple chats at a time. As for the schedule let me tell you how it really works. You choose either a 8 hours shift with an hour lunch or a 10 hour shift with an hour lunch. The schedule bid is every 6 months (which the last time they have kept extending shift bids and 6 months turned into 9 months) and you're going about 30 choices and you list which one you prefer from 1-30 and so on (Which is the same for everyone no matter if you're new or have been working 2 years) . Then they choose the schedule you receive a few weeks before the schedule starts. I worked 8am-7pm Off wed, thur and friday but most do not get days in a row off at first. It's luck of the draw if you receive the bid you want or weekends off etc....Everyone who started with me 2 years ago we were all still on the same team and the day I quit 3 people had been promoted out of the 25 of us in two years if that says anything. They play favorites and if you're not one then don't expect a promotion within the first couple of years.

As for holidays you won't have any point blank, I missed every Christmas and Thanksgiving for this job (unless you're scheduled day off lands on a Holiday) and it just wasn't worth it anymore for me. They pay hourly by the cost of living and my state is the lowest of course so some people on my team who live in NY are making several more an hour by doing the same job as I did. There is little to no communication from management after a certain time they just fall off and i found it hard to get responses back unless it was negative. You receive Holiday and sick time to use which was awesome but if you have something in your life to do heath and your family they don't consider anything you still receive points. For example if you're more then 4 minutes late from lunch you receive some points and when you hit a certain amount you get an attendance warning, doesn't matter what was going on. Our team was number 1 out of iTunes for the whole first year and it meant nothing. Besides a few shirts and ridiculous gifts they send you I know nothing to show but the experience I gained.

You can go off of what people are saying that have been there for a short time period but I know several of my team are not happy but have decided to stay for the time being. They are took our big 27inch macs and sent us two smaller refurbished macs that don't work well and I have had to send back for a replacement 2 times since receiving them. Tech issues with the tools are a whole other issue. Don't get me wrong I don't regret this job at all because every single resume I sent out I received an interview because of working for Apple for 2 years. I just telling you it's not all that great as everyone is making it out to be at least it wasn't for me which is why I decided to quit.

And not to mention it took me over a year to get hired with Apple after applying over and over again, I wanted this job badly but in the end they don't give you the same respect as what you put into it is what I'm saying, take it or leave it I don't really care but I'm not going to sugar coat anything, everyone isn't going to have the same experience! It's labor day and I would be working today from 8am-7pm but instead I'm going fishing at the lake with my kids and couldn't be happier. I have done nothing but praise apple for so long but I finally decided to actually have a life :)

Feel free to PM me I won't be posting again and i'll try to answer I'm not going to have people telling me I'm incorrect when you have been working there 2 months (in another department at that), everyones experience will be different so I should be able to voice mine without someone telling me it's wrong lol

They said they had a different experience. They're allowed to voice their different experiences as much as you are.

California!
Yikes...
Nomatter.... This is the same thing I was told when I worked at Disney World:

"People will get jaded, try not to let it get you down! We all are here to make our own experiences"

Go in positive! Go in knowing what you want. Make the best of it! Apple is a lovely company, just like Disney and anyone can become jaded in any capacity. It only means it isn't the right job for them! I personally hear nothing but wonderful things about this job ( chat or phones ). Keep your heads up whether your applying for the first time, re applying or awaiting the grueling BGC statuses. Cheers! :):apple:;)

3rd interview was Friday, still haven't heard anything back. Super stoked that every email I've received is not from Apple. My phone has and will be attached to my hip until I hear yes/no. Anyone else waiting get news?

My 3rd interview wasn't this past Friday but the one before so it's been 12 days for me and still nothing. I'm praying I get an offer call and not a rejection email.
