I'm not trying to scare anyone! I'm just telling you my experience! You have been working a couple of months so come back in a couple of years and give your experience. I LOVED my job which is why I stayed for two years, iTunes chat is all customer service and for the most part your customers are happy but it can be a little stressful at times taking a couple chats at a time. As for the schedule let me tell you how it really works. You choose either a 8 hours shift with an hour lunch or a 10 hour shift with an hour lunch. The schedule bid is every 6 months (which the last time they have kept extending shift bids and 6 months turned into 9 months) and you're going about 30 choices and you list which one you prefer from 1-30 and so on (Which is the same for everyone no matter if you're new or have been working 2 years) . Then they choose the schedule you receive a few weeks before the schedule starts. I worked 8am-7pm Off wed, thur and friday but most do not get days in a row off at first. It's luck of the draw if you receive the bid you want or weekends off etc....Everyone who started with me 2 years ago we were all still on the same team and the day I quit 3 people had been promoted out of the 25 of us in two years if that says anything. They play favorites and if you're not one then don't expect a promotion within the first couple of years.
As for holidays you won't have any point blank, I missed every Christmas and Thanksgiving for this job (unless you're scheduled day off lands on a Holiday) and it just wasn't worth it anymore for me. They pay hourly by the cost of living and my state is the lowest of course so some people on my team who live in NY are making several more an hour by doing the same job as I did. There is little to no communication from management after a certain time they just fall off and i found it hard to get responses back unless it was negative. You receive Holiday and sick time to use which was awesome but if you have something in your life to do heath and your family they don't consider anything you still receive points. For example if you're more then 4 minutes late from lunch you receive some points and when you hit a certain amount you get an attendance warning, doesn't matter what was going on. Our team was number 1 out of iTunes for the whole first year and it meant nothing. Besides a few shirts and ridiculous gifts they send you I know nothing to show but the experience I gained.
You can go off of what people are saying that have been there for a short time period but I know several of my team are not happy but have decided to stay for the time being. They are took our big 27inch macs and sent us two smaller refurbished macs that don't work well and I have had to send back for a replacement 2 times since receiving them. Tech issues with the tools are a whole other issue. Don't get me wrong I don't regret this job at all because every single resume I sent out I received an interview because of working for Apple for 2 years. I just telling you it's not all that great as everyone is making it out to be at least it wasn't for me which is why I decided to quit.
