Hey guys, just an update. Just got my offer call, and they low-balled me hard on salary. I had to decline, I make more doing infrequent freelance work part time than I would make doing this job. I got quoted a wage during my interview and they totally pulled back on it. Beware. I know Kelley people make $9-10 bucks an hour but for being a full fledged Apple employee at $12 is not very good... I was hoping for more of the $16-18 range that everyone says they get. Either I got screwed or folks on here are lying... really disgusted

Did you ask them why? Because I have proof of my recruiter and 2nd person that interviewed me. Both said the same wage. Sorry to hear about that!! :/

Of course I asked to negotiate salary up to what I was originally quoted, nothing more, and they said there was no room for negotiation due to the competitiveness of this position. It's ok really, I've had several interviews over the last week- something is bound to happen.

Well to add, I just got the offer call myself, with current talked about wages...and Got pushed back to a class in june:confused:

It depends where you are located and what area you applied to. I highly doubt that people on here are lying. This is a place where we all post our experiences with AHA process.

That's insane... I mean I know it varies by area but $12? Dang. I for one haven't been told any amount throughout my whole process. I guess I'll find out what awaits me if I get that call.

AngryGerbil,

Why would they postpone on my start day and month??...Im almost to the point that I want to say screw them...

Lame, sorry to hear that! :( What wage did they quote you initially and where are you located?

When I came on board in September folks were offered $15 - $16.25. The initial email everyone received stated $14.50. Doesn't the first email you received (with the questions) have the wage listed? It couldn't have been $12.

No wage in the 1st email. I only discussed wage in the 3rd interview.

Hhmmm, they really changed up the process. The first email with the questions had the wage. It seemed the email content was a bit dated, because each interviewer stated a higher wage, and then when the offer letter came, it was higher for some folks. I think there were wage increases across the board during the time retail employees got a wage bump.

Has anyone passed the background check and then not gotten an offer? Or are the only ones who don't get an offer call at that point the ones who don't pass the bgc?

It seems like I remember reading somewhere that it is possible to get the bgc, pass it, and not get an offer call. :(

Thanks.

Also, would anyone be willing to take a picture of their ergo desk/ chair set-up and post in on here? It would be really awesome to see an example of an ergo-approved office. :)

Although, I appreciate Angrygerbil's candide answer, if anyone else has input to either of my questions it would be greatly appreciated.

New to MacRumors

Hey everybody,
I am new to MacRumors, and am also waiting to hear back from my BGC from HireRight for the PT CPU position. I have been given similar details as many of you (5/20 start date, hourly wage, wait 5 days to hear from the recruiter, etc.).

Because this forum has helped calm some nerves as I wait to hear back, I just wanted to add to the forum to assist anybody else out there in the same place as I am.

Timeline:
1/10/2013: applied
3/28/2013: received initial questionnaire from requiter
4/1/2013: got a call from recruiter asking me basic questions. She then scheduled me for my first FaceTime interview.
4/2/2013: First FaceTime interview, lasting 25 minutes. The interviewer asked a bit more in depth questions about customer service and technical experience. At the end she said she wanted to move me on to the next interview.
4/5/2013: Had my final FaceTime interview which lasted about 45 minutes. She asked me lots of customer service questions and a few technical questions. The best part about the whole thing was that she fist bumped me! Very relaxed interview, she was great!
4/8/2013: Received the HireRight email at 8:30 am Monday morning to authorize the background check.
4/9/2013: Just waiting. Hopefully I will hear something by the weekend!

So, that is my story, from January until now! I hope this helps someone!

Your lucky you got a call so fast. I don't think you read my Initial response, but I applied back in Nov '11.

Yeah, same thing for me. 11 question no wage. When SHE called me the next morning (I got that survey at like 9 that night) she's the one that woke me up by calling me early saying she wanted to talk to me because they like me and want to hire me. So during the first interview she told me the wage. It really is different.

Whoops. Meant to ask... How do you like it so far? Hours, etc.. And are you making 16.25 and a CPU?

You guys are lucky to get replies so fast. I applied for this in early February and the iTunes chat position last week. I still haven't received a questionnaire or any sort of contact.

At least I'm ready for the some of the interview questions(I hope).

I'm part-time iOS. Being full-time Tier 1 in iOS would be a struggle for me. It is mind-numbing. It's bearable working 3 days a week, 4 hours each and 8 hours on a weekend day. We were full-time plus overtime during Christmas for a couple of weeks. It was torture.

I plan on hanging in there and keeping my metrics in line with where they need to be to reach Tier 2 (full-time). It's all about the numbers. I have 6 months in. You don't have to be in your position for a year to advance. Several former members of my team are in Tier 2 just 4 months out of training. Purely because of their metrics.

My wage is a little more than $16/hour. As a side note, you do receive additional hourly pay (shift differential) if your shift starts after 1pm.

ok,
I got my job through kelly. not really happy about it as I want to be through apple. I had my 11 question email and did not hear anything back for a week, then I emailed my recruiter on what was going on and she said she never got the email. So..... I sent another one, and still have not heard anything.

Good to know, thanks for this info! So this applies to the 4 hour shifts? What percentage is the differential?

There have been Tier 2 rotations, where you stay part time and just rotate for 90 days. But generally speaking, Tier 2 is a bump in pay and also full time.

A mentor is someone who bumps up to full time and assists in training the new employees. Once youre in training, you'll do I believe 4 mentoring sessions.

Yes, there is a tool to do just that. To customers it's called Apple Remote Assistance. It's fantastic when customers know what they're doing (being able to download it and open it). But there are plenty that don't know what they are doing and it could take them forever to just find it in their downloads folder. But no, I assume for liability reasons, there is nothing but remove viewing. But as I said, it can be very helpful.

In the 6 months I've been doing CPU, I've never had to once do a command line fix inside OS X. I've had to use single user mode to reset passwords, but the remote tool wouldn't work for that anyway.

Awesome info, I really appreciate it! So once you go full time then you automatically become a mentor? What are the mentoring sessions like? As a Tier 1 rep are you allowed to do what ever type fix is necessary if you really know what your doing without having to transfer to Tier 2? Angry Gerbal said you can with iOS so I assume it's the same with CPU.

Has anyone received an offer call on a weekend?

Everyone providing info is incredable kind and awesome!!! Thanks once again! :)

It applies to any shift (4 hour shift included). 10% if your shift starts after 1pm. 15% if your shift starts after 9pm.

How much is shift differential?
EDIT: Nevermind, I saw your past post answering the question... :)

Nice! Do you always work a minimum of 4 hours? Do you get any time before or after taking calls to do other work related tasks? Apple's website notes AppleCare hours of operation as 7:00am to 10:00pm CST where as I was informed you may work anytime between 5:00am-11:30pm. Does Apple provide extended hours beyond these ones during certain times? You rock!
