So my training orientation is Friday.
I still havent received my equipment, or even an email stating its been shipped.
Should i be worried?

I'd be kind of surprised if FedEx didn't drop it off today. As for the email, don't hold your breath. I got my FedEx tracking email the same day I got my equipment. My boyfriend got his email the day after FedEx delivered. Kelly isn't great at getting those out in time for it to matter.

Oh i have a random question.
Do they care if you have tattoos or piercings?

I know i read that your work area needs to be clean and professional looking, but wasn't sure how much appearance matters.

I work through Kelly btw, not sure if that makes a difference.

Calls

I was under the impression that they ran both iOS and CPU training pretty much throughout the year. I can tell you that iOS has picked up a lot of people in the last few months, most of them new out of training. I'm not sure why they're loading up iOS other than to prep for the holidays OR they are expecting call volume to skyrocket because of iOS 7. That is a possibility but I've never seen call volume for iOS as low as it is now.

One of the caveats to working AHA is the inability to network and gain contacts throughout Apple... and everything is so compartmentalized that getting info at a macro level is extremely difficult.

I assume that, like me, most people coming on board would like a CPU slot. It's more or less a crap-shoot regarding which queue you end up in but odds lean heavily toward iOS Tier 1 for most newbies. There are far more iPods/iPhones/iPads out in the wild than there are Macs.

With the advent of new iOS reps, whats the average time between calls you are seeing? Also, how do you get to Tier 2? Are you invited to train or do you apply for it?

Thanks

I have been told from current and former Apple employees tattoos do not matter. As far as piercings I believe ears piercings don't matter not sure about the rest. I live close to a Apple store and 90% of the employees have visible tattoos.

3rd Skype Interview Apple At Home Advisor

Hi I just wanted to see if this happened to anyone.

The third Skype interview lasted for about 25 minutes. At the end, the interviewer (also working from home), asked me if I had any questions - I asked a few.

Then she closed the interview with saying "Thank you so much for carving time out of your day to talk to me, it was a real pleasure, have a great day - goodbye".

However, I didn't even get the same closing from the first two interviews that explained the next steps even if they decided not to hire me. Normally they say, "We will follow up with you in x days..." or previous posters have stated they said we will let you know one way or the other.

I guess what I am asking is HOW did everyone else's 3rd Skype interview conclude even if not hired?

Mine when exactly like yours, but I got a Hireright email within the hour. Don't be discouraged, it may take a few days.

...There were a few others in the conference call / paperwork session that were told in CPU originally, but it was stated then that we were all iOS. When someone asked about getting into CPU they were told EVERYONE was going into iOS as that is where company needs are and there were no upcoming scheduled CPU classes.

Setting aside whatever you or others were told in the beginning, just look at it this way. An $1,100 Macbook is comparable to a $450 PC in terms of capacity and performance, so it's basically only meant for the true believers and/or those who find the concept of a C drive to be overwhelming. This means that plenty of people still buy Macs, of course, and I don't deny that some of the features are handy, but the market share is relatively low.

An iPhone, on the other hand, is only a little bit more expensive than a comparable Android phone. So while I would contend that an HTC One or a (waterproof) Samsung GS4 would be a far superior device to own, there's not a significant barrier to entry for someone who can get a subsidized iPhone from a cellular carrier for about the same price. It's a pretty cool looking device, and some of the included services are likewise pretty cool, at least until they're not. (If you ever sold an iPhone and found that the new owner was getting your iMesages or you synced your notes with iCloud and found that they disappeared for no apparent reason, you know what I mean.)

So you're left with one queue dedicated to people who are a pretty small subset of the computer market, and another queue dedicated to every Tom, Dick, and Harry who thought the commercial with the white headphones was super groovy. So yeah, iOS is where the manpower is needed. Combine that with the fact that the iOS calls are enough to drive you to drinking (read→high turnover), and you can do the math.

Thanks for your insight and input. I am computer / network / hardware / software certified and experienced up the wazoo, but it appears I am now in iOS. There were a few others in the conference call / paperwork session that were told in CPU originally, but it was stated then that we were all iOS. When someone asked about getting into CPU they were told EVERYONE was going into iOS as that is where company needs are and there were no upcoming scheduled CPU classes. This is what confused me becausee people are starting CPU classes?? They also confirmed that you would have to work iOS for a year before you would be able to request a move to CPU unless the company requested you be moved. So now I'm assuming the CPU and iOS classes must run simultaneously? I have learned one thing that is consistant about this entire applying, hiring, training and job process, and it is that nothing is consistant.

Believe me, there is an underlying pattern to to apparent chaos that is the hiring process. The interviewers and hiring managers may not always adhere to their schedule but EVERYTHING Apple does, they have down to a science. AHA still has a few kinks since it's relatively new but Apple is not a company that does stuff in a slipshod fashion(maps aside).

Everyone needs to come to grips with the fact that there are no classrooms, no meeting rooms, no managers offices. That's old school. Everything is virtual. When they run iOS or CPU training they pull a Tier 2 or Tier 3 rep off the phone, give him or her a list of trainees, they boot up their training software and away you go. Your classroom is software and your trainer is sitting in his or her office or living room. When I meet with my manager every couple of weeks I'm in my living room with a nosy cat and she's in her den with an attention seeking golden retriever be-bopping around.

Keep in mind that there are hundreds of people coming on board, from New England to SoCal and thousands that are already on the phones. AHA is HUGE and since classes typically have only between 25 and 30 students there's a lot more classes than the ones you see listed in this forum. The people that post here represent a very, very small portion of the new hires.

thank you! It was the 16th when we did the third interview, and its just now the 18th. I believe Aug 26 was the training class they referred to as well during the interview. It was just so odd, I have never had an interview end like that before!

I was told in my paperwork session you need an ergonomic chair with a 5 star (wheel) base and an adjustible back. They also said they would be sending out an email with more details. Here is what is on Apple's Website in regards to an ergonomic chair, but not sure if this is what they are sending out to us. http://www.apple.com/about/ergonomics/seat.html I purchased an Aeron fully adjustible chair because I had one at my last job and knew it was completely ergonomic and the most comfortable chair for me. They are expensive so I scoured craigslist and ebay until I found a great deal on one.

Thanks! That is very helpful!
Does anyone know when we will receive the new hire paperwork? I just received my offer email last night, accepted it of course. And it did state that I would receive paperwork to fill out but with no date listed?

Time between calls is roughly 5 - 6 mins... day shift at least. T2 they do by invitation. As long as you got some game... they'll ask. I think I may have watched too many episodes of "The Wire".

New Hire Paperwork

I just got my email to schedule my paperwork session. When I went to choose a time the only option available was tomorrow at 11. The email said I'd receive the paperwork at least 1 day before the session. That being said do you think my paperwork will make it in time, I live in NC.

Still waiting, back ground check has been completed. I am supposed to be in Aug 5th class. I wish I knew something so I would know weather or not to get another phone line installed. I have a little over 2 weeks before the class starts and it takes a week just to get an appt to have phone installed.

I'm in the same boat as you, only one time available and it was for tomorrow. In the email it does say if you haven't received your paperwork by the session you can use the paperwork that will be sent during the morning of the session and follow along. Which if I don't get it by 11am tomorrow I'll follow along with what is sent via email tomorrow.
