As I recall, the tests are between 18 to 25 questions, and are timed, open book test. I can't remember how long the time was, but do know you have enough time to go through your questions and review the answers. The best advise is to pay attention during training, take notes and create bookmarks. Most of the job is knowing where to find information quickly and accurately, and the tests are preparation for that. You don't need to be a MAC expert as long as you know where to find the answers.

Ok. Thanks!

Because of Famous' proclivity for violet outbursts and other unstable behavior Apple was forced to pull him off the phones and put him in chat support.
Famous' response to a "dumb" question IRL: RAWWWWWWR! *Flurry of curse words*

What Famous actually types into chat: Of course, ma'am. I'd love to assist you with that!

Satellite Usage

I asume so just be careful of latency and your data cap

Hello, were you able to perform the job using satellite internet services? Did you meet the requirements for the speed testing. I am preparing for a future training session.

It took exactly that long for my call too! My recruiter said that it can take anywhere from 1-5 days to get the email to just be patient! I am in the 8/5 class also, I guess I will see you there!

Congrats I'm in the 8/5 class too. Are you excited because I am can't wait to start.

I'd edit the post to remove the name of the person you spoke to.

Great to know. Thanks 4mrAHA.

My AHA Timeline/Experience

I've been lurking around this website for about a month now. I've been going through the process of becoming an AHA since the beginning of June. I received my offer call on 6/28 and waited two long weeks to receive my offer email--7/15. It was torture and I was convinced they must have sent it to the wrong email address or that it ended up in my spam folder. So, I didn't delete anything for two weeks! Ha! That was pretty much the most painful part of the process. I received my offer call a few days after my background check was completed, so that wasn't too bad (I was still anxious).

Now that I've received the offer email, things seem to be moving pretty quickly. I'm already scheduled for my paperwork session and everything!

I was originally told I'd be in the 7/15 iOS class, but when I received my offer call, I was told I got moved to the 8/26 iOS class. I'm very fortunate to have a "summer job."

For anyone in the interview process, my best advice is to just be yourself and be super empathetic and show that you can provide excellent customer service. That's what Apple is looking for--not the most experienced IT person ever--at least not for this particular position. If you make it to round three, complete with a hire right email, you're pretty much golden. Just ride it out and be patient.

Hope some/all of this was helpful.

Wondering if anyone on here that is starting in July or August knows for 100% sure they are in a CPU class? If so what is your start date? Thanks
My BGC completed Friday and I am waiting for my offer call to arrive sometime this week. I am being considered for the August 19th class, which I confirmed is a CPU class.

I am very excited! I wish the class started sooner! I've been setting up my office today, do you know what kind of chair we need?

I don't remember I know it has to have the 5 legs on the bottom and adjustable back arm rest and seat. I went through kelly service they haven't told me I needed a certain chair but others on here say that they were told to get a chair I don't remember the name but it starts with an E ask some of the guys on here they know a lot of stuff about what is needed because they have been through the process or was told. The guys on here are helpful. But nice talk to some one from the 8/5 class yay!

I have a question for all the Kelly service people that are working with Apple through them, is it a lasting job through Kelly or just for a few months. I Didn't see that question in the forum. Just wanted to know. Thanks for any help.

Finally

Hey all! I've been reading and watching others receive their offer calls and been lurking in the shadows while I anxiously awaited mine! For those who want to know my time line here you go:

6/21 Applied online
6/25 Missed call, was left VM, called back left VM for recruiter
6/26 1st Interview was told to brush up on my skills (cpu, ram, hard drive) also request for resume to be sent directly since it didn't upload online, moved forward for 2nd interview, was given pay rate and 8/5 class training date.
6/26 Received official application, filled it out and submitted it.
6/28 2nd interview via Skype, asked most of questions on "famous pg. 40" no role plays was told I would be moving to the 3rd interview with hiring manager and that I should be prepared for 45-60 minute interview and role plays. I was also told the person interviewing me would be looking for someone for their team and to be prepared. Was told pay rate again and 8/5 class training date.
6/28 Received another official application (sent email that I had filled it out and was told to disregard) also received my email to schedule 3rd interview via website (website only had one day available and about 6 different time slots)
7/2 3rd interview via Skype with hiring manager (I almost felt over dressed as it was very laid back) it was very comfortable even though I was still extremely nervous. Asked a few more tech questions, 1 role play and was told before the role play it is not important how technical I get to fix the problem training would cover that but I needed to know how to help the customer. Was told I would be moving forward and that I would here back in about 3-5 weeks but because I was offered the 8/5 class cpu and it should be sooner. I was not informed of the background check.
7/3 Received my HireRight email filled it out and sent it back.
7/9 Called HireRight to see how things were moving along and if anything was need from me and was told my most recent job had not sent verification and if I had a pay stub it could be completed. I sent the pay stub via email as well as uploaded to the site.
7/10 Called HireRight to verify my document was received and it was. Was told it was completed earlier that morning and that my background was favorable for any employer and that there was no reason I shouldn't receive a offer call.
7/11 Sent email to my HR contact to update my background was complete and ask what the next steps were. Did not receive a response.
7/16 Received offer call and was told 8/5 class CPU and was given .25 more pay. Excitedly accepted. I was also told it could be anywhere from 5-7 days to receive the email as its summer time and some of the managers are away on vacation which could take some time to process and get it in the system. I was also informed of equipment and documents I would be receiving. Verification of my address and email.

So this is where I am. Waiting for my email. I want to say to everyone who contributes here THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! This forum and the SEARCH BAR has been such a huge help getting me this far with this job. I also want to say I look forward to having class with those who are also in 8/5 class.

To those who come to the last page and ask questions that have been answered, I feel bad for you getting chewed :p so here is the link that has been up on my computer since I found it (the night before my 3rd interview)

Kelly's permanent, at least for the length of their contract which they recently renewed for (I think) 4 years.

Good morning, I just applied at Apple for the AppleCare At Home Advisor. How long does it take before they contact you after applying? Super excited for this.

For me I applied in the morning and was contacted in the afternoon by the recruiter.

My friend applied and who pointed out the position to me applied and it was over a month before the recruiter contacted them

So long story short, It depends.

Yes I'm in August 12th. During paperwork session manager said everyone was iOS because that is where company needs everyone. Said no upcoming CPU classes planned when someone in the paperwork session asked about it. I was just curious if this was accurate because several people in 8/12 class said they were confirmed CPU???? And others also say they have been confirmed to be in CPU upcoming classes. Unless no one knows for sure until they are told in the paperwork session?

I was under the impression that they ran both iOS and CPU training pretty much throughout the year. I can tell you that iOS has picked up a lot of people in the last few months, most of them new out of training. I'm not sure why they're loading up iOS other than to prep for the holidays OR they are expecting call volume to skyrocket because of iOS 7. That is a possibility but I've never seen call volume for iOS as low as it is now.

One of the caveats to working AHA is the inability to network and gain contacts throughout Apple... and everything is so compartmentalized that getting info at a macro level is extremely difficult.

I assume that, like me, most people coming on board would like a CPU slot. It's more or less a crap-shoot regarding which queue you end up in but odds lean heavily toward iOS Tier 1 for most newbies. There are far more iPods/iPhones/iPads out in the wild than there are Macs.
