was the Mac expert position the same rate of pay as aha? and which aha class are you slated for?

Mac expert was a little less, but full time

no idea, class starts August 19th? I never asked what it was. didn't really have a preference

Hire-right background check

Hi all,

I am a newbie to this site and would like some advice on the Apple At-Home-Advisor job.

Ok so I applied online on July 7th.

Received a phone call from a recruitment specialist on July 8th asking me for some more information about myself such as 'Do I own any Apple products?' and a couple of technical questions such as 'Can you explain what a hard-drive is in layman's terms?' and 'How would you trouble-shoot a wifi connection?'

She then told me I had passed that part and would like to set me up for a FaceTime interview with her colleague the next day.

So I had my initial FaceTime interview and was told that I would hear back the following week.

About 1 hour later, I received an email asking me to go to the apple corporate site to set-up a date for a second FaceTime interview so I did that for July 11th.

The second interview was slightly longer than the first (about 30 mins compared to 20 mins on the first one) with more role play scenarios .

The guy that took the second interview told me at the end that I would not hear back for at least 2 weeks.

However, today I received an email. This email had a link to the Hireright website as they were requesting a background check on me.

Now, is this a good sign that I might get the job or is it just routine?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Chris

Thanks for the advice. I'm hoping that everything comes back fine as I am from the UK and have only been in the US since November 2012.

Add me to the list of potentials! I received an email from a recruiter today, and upon calling her back, she asked me a bunch of basic questions. She told me that I sound like a perfect fit for the position and scheduled me a FaceTime interview on Wednesday!

I'm excited.

If I get the position, I'll be a part of the 8/12 class.

I kinda wish the position is full time, but I'll take what I can get as a foot in the door. My dream is to work for them someday as a software engineer. Gotta start somewhere, right?

Hey guys so i have a question.
I emailed Apple Flex with proof of getting a phone line installed.
I now have it installed. Do i need to email again with the phone number for it?

Also, my company said they cant 'disable' call forwarding or 3 way calling. Its by call to call, so as long as i dont use it it wont be 'on'. Is this acceptable?..

that's actually the exact type of schedule I would want to have, but why were you working 2-11? that's a 9 hour shift. I'm going to take a wild guess that we get a hour lunch??

It is a 9 hour shift. You have a scheduled one hour lunch, but during busy times (if offered) you can opt to take a half hour lunch and get the overtime. Conversely when they have a slow period you could be offered the option to early out. I didn't mind the 2 p.m. to 11 shift, as long as my last call ended close to 11. You can't sign out earlier than 5 minutes before the end of your shift, so if the phone rings at 10:54 p.m., you could be stuck on a long call if the customer is calling from the West coast and you're on the East coast. Had a few of those calls where I didn't sign off until almost midnight. Definitely did not care for that.

Just a bit of advice.... Apple does monitor this forum and if you provide enough information, they can figure out who you are. If you get hired, you are clearly expected to protect Apple information. You also may want to be careful about posting specific names of people you talk to...

Thanks for the advice about that. I am concerned now! Should I just delete the post??

Quick questions. Can I get some info about the tests? Like how many questions, how long we get to take them, are they fill in the blank, do they have trick questions, are they easy, etc? Im scared I would not do good on them since Im new to this whole mac thing.

Any info would be very very much appreciated.

Thanks.

As I recall, the tests are between 18 to 25 questions, and are timed, open book test. I can't remember how long the time was, but do know you have enough time to go through your questions and review the answers. The best advise is to pay attention during training, take notes and create bookmarks. Most of the job is knowing where to find information quickly and accurately, and the tests are preparation for that. You don't need to be a MAC expert as long as you know where to find the answers.

I'd edit the post to remove the name of the person you spoke to.

I have just done exactly that, however I can't edit the other posts where posters have used the quotes!

I'm not going to be as kind as 4mrAHA. Seriously, people... use some common sense before posting in a public forum. Never use anyone's real name without permission and remain as anonymous as possible or you may find yourself getting bit in the ass sometime down the line.

They won't actually need your number for a while. When it's time, You'll be asked for it in one of your mentoring sessions and your mentor will give it a call and make sure everything's okay. As for the three way calling and call forwarding, you should indeed be fine.

Congrats! As a long time lurker (with two posts :p), I have finally received my offer call! It took 13 days from after my background check was completed to get the call, but the 4th of July doesn't technically count in that respect. Just awaiting my offer email and I will be golden. Not entirely how long the offer email is supposed to take, but I have made it this far. I will be in CPU on 8/5, so I will see you folks there

It took exactly that long for my call too! My recruiter said that it can take anywhere from 1-5 days to get the email to just be patient! I am in the 8/5 class also, I guess I will see you there!
