Just got off the phone with my recruiter..... I will be in the January Maps class due the November class filling up already!!! I'm excited!!!

Congrats! That's what I was told as well. Did they say anything about when the BGC email would go out?

My intention was not to offend you guys, or say that your opinion was not valid. My only intention was to see if you guys would be more interested sharing your experience on a thread dedicated to such a topic, maybe even one you guys could create.

Otherwise, it just seems to us hopeful new hires like a bunch of former/current employees have highjacked this thread to complain about a job they either don't or wish they didn't have. None of which is helping us landing this job.

I'll chime in here. This thread isn't titled "New Apple Prospects". No one hijacked anything. It's a thread dedicated to the position...be it new hires or people actually working the position sharing their experience/experiences.

Working at Apple has its ups and downs. This is not a fan-boi forum afaik.

I like my job but I'll occasionally post things that aren't "apple shiny bright". That's what forums are about.

FaceTime interview

Finally got a call from an Apple recruiter today. She asked me about my tech knowledge and we did a little role playing scenario. She liked me and immediately scheduled me for a FaceTime interview for next Monday.
Any pointers for this interview?
Thanks
EDIT: The position starts in November, so I guess this hiring round will be pretty fast-paced.

Congratulations! Which position is it for? There is really good material to prepare yourself for the interview within this thread. Best of luck!

Congrats to everyone that was offered the AHA for the Maps division. I received a phone call notifying me about the January class. I still have one more interview before the actual offer.

If the class for November is supposedly full, why are some people still interviewing or being offered a position for Nov? Perhaps, my location was full or the position is for another division?

At any rate, congrats to everyone. I'm really looking forward to the third interview even though I am extremely nervous.

Assuming it's for CPU but not sure.

Got picked for FaceTime interview. Is that considered first or 2nd interview?
Anyway, got a question about their office requirements. My bedroom is small and a weird L shape so no room for my desk.
My desk is in my apartment living room which opens into the kitchen. Essentially one big room. The living room opens to the outside but I'm the only one who lives here.
I guess I could put my bed in the living room and put the desk in the bedroom if they really have an issue, but I'd rather not.

I'm just guessing here, but I'm pretty sure all the classes for the maps position were filled internally for the rest of the year. A few days after the position was opened up internally the class date was pushed back, which is where my guess comes from. The other positions being filled are not for the maps portion of the aha position.

Applied about a month ago.

Haven't heard back yet. What's the usual wait time to hear something back?

Is the maps class in January the only option people are being hired for at the moment?

I would prefer iPad/iPhone support as that is my strongest expertise.

Thanks!

Hi its good to be here and to meet all of you,

About 2 months ago I saw this job online and applied.A few weeks ago I got my email and a call to set up the first interview over phone. That seemed to go smooth but the role play question was very vaguely set up.The interview went well though and I had my second phone interview Friday.

The 2nd went smooth (again over the phone) except for the way the 2 role play questions were set up.The interviewer jumped right into a problem and I have a ritual over a phone of the friendly greeting, the company ID,being empathetic, and troubleshooting the issue. He didn't allow me to do any of that in the scenario so it tripped me up a bit in the acting.Aside from that it went great.I was told I would get an email Monday(tomorrow 10/13/2013) after they had a meeting and discussed who would move forward.I really hope I get it.

They seemed really concerned that I used to build custom PC's as a side job on my own and also worked for a computer company doing hardware installation and tech support over a phone. The concern was they wanted to make sure Im not working now. That seems to be a real issue if they arent actually promising people a job right off the bat.People just can't quit if a job isn't guaranteed. In my case thats not an issue for me as I am unemployed at the moment.

I was offered 14.75 for the 5 week training. They said that starts November 25th 2013.After that based on my experience and my location that I would go to 16.50 an hour part time(20 hours a week)

Wish me luck please,

Mina

For those of you hired, did you get a sense during the second interview that you got the job?
Just had my second interview. He asked me questions about a customer service problem and how I handled it. We did a couple role-play situations.
He cut me off during the second scenario and asked me if I had any questions. I didn't and he told me the next step is a third interview and that a group would be meeting on Friday to determine who moves on. He told me I'll get an email by the middle of next week and wished me good luck.
It was hard to read the guy.

Seems like it might of been the same guy but he told me I'd get an email today on the moving forward process and I am still waiting on that.He was very hard to read to.3 interviews is really harsh I think. They leave you on pins an needles as you wait.More then any other job in my 23 years of employment.

I had a guy too for my second interview.. I couldn't read him either. He told me at the end a recruiter would reach out if I was chosen to move on. I asked about a second interview and he said nope, just two. I had the background check email just a couple hours later. I start in November. Good luck!!

Thats really strange.I did my 2 interviews already. No mention about the background check at all yet. Before my 2nd interview though I was told aside from my resume and cover letter already on the site to fill out the doc of personal info.Maybe this is for the background check? No idea as it wasn't explained.Still haven't heard a word today as I was told I would get an email this morning.Nerve racking for sure but remaining optimistic. Congrats to you. :)

This gives me some hope. I just applied last week and wasn't sure what the timeframe was for Apple making first contact. I used to work for an Apple Specialist (privately owned Apple store) for 4.5 years until they went out of business. I basically performed this job just in a store and not from my home, which is why I applied because it would be absolutely perfect. It's good to know it could take a while before I hear from them. I'm sure it's also based off location.

I do wish you luck! I wonder how you are chosen as support for just maps or ios or mac? Weird, I'm sure there is a way they place people.

My interviewer told me the training starts Nov 25. Seems like it's cutting it really close if there's a third interview and the lengthy background check process. Maybe they're fast tracking it this time.

I agree I was told the 25th to and think thats kind of questionable since I too have not done the BGC and 3rd interview(if there is one) yet.
