I'm sorry to hear that!
There are many people here who have gotten to the background phase including myself that are overqualified. I'm a stay at home mom that left a well known computer company to be home with my kids so I'm hoping to use this opportunity to get back in the swing of things.
I'm going to share what the very first recruiter that contacted me told me. Her exact words were, "I like you. Your answers were precise and to the point. Keep that up as you move forward. Whatever you do, don't get too wordy with your answers but you shouldn't have that problem."
Think back to your answers. Were any of them long winded or too wordy? Did you speak in lamest terms? I am not saying you did all these things. The customers who call AppleCare aren't necessarily clueless but the last thing Apple needs is an advisor that's not relatable or has a lack of empathy and it comes across that way during a call.
The hiring manager told me that they are looking for people that are knowledgeable when customers call and can easily help them get through situations in a way that's relatable. Apple doesn't care about anyone's certifications or skill expertise for this position. This is a job that can lead to a career....nothing more and nothing less LOL. Good luck to you!
