Still waiting for equipment

11 days until training starts. I hope the iMac and headset arrive pretty quickly since I'm waiting until I have that on site before I'll have the dedicated phone number turned on. My internet is plenty fast enough but I may have the speed bumped up since Apple provides $50 per month in compensation. What I could never figure out is why Apple requires only a 2 Mbps downstream speed and Kelly required a 10 Mbps connection. And Kelly only paid .15 per hour utility compensation... they really try to get by on the cheap while taking a $6.00 per hour middleman cut. Sh*theads:mad:

They were recently bragging about how demand from the client has grown exponentially. Business is booming yet they only pay $9.15 with no benefits and no paid time off. Really soured my impression of them when I found out Apple's compensation (including up to $50/month for internet/phone).

Well... Congrats and that question about the speed was brought up but never answered in NEO

... It started in the Keys which is the other direction which is at the end where Miami is. This is not my first rodeo with a storm been here since Andrew. :)....

I lived in Miami for almost 19 years and weathered Hurricane Andrew also. I slept through the entire storm for I prayed if I was not going to survive it, I preferred to die in my sleep! My sister-in-law was astounded about my deep sleep mode amongst all of the foundation trembling, tree-cracking and other turmoil and turbulence from the storm effects (and she said I was snoring too! LOL). I was one of the blessed ones that made it through with little damage or post-complications. Unfortunately, I could not say the same for many friends....

Wow .... I can't sleep through something like that.

Dallasd,

I was amazed that I slept through it too! I can only justify it as an answered prayer to sleep through it all. I am normally a very light sleeper. Did you read the private message I sent you earlier?

Honestly I think it's the same with all the staffing agencies for apple. The company I work for right now until I start apple does the same thing. The pay isn't as bad but they don't have paid vacation or sick days and their insurance is a joke. I'm so glad to finally be working straight through apple. Honestly it's the way to go.

Silly Question

I am assuming advisors hired directly by Apple will be assigned an Apple email address, correct? Does anyone know whether Verizon Wireless offers a discount on your monthly plan for Apple employees? If so, what's the percentage?

[Yes, I did research the Internet before posting the aforementioned inquiry (I am a professional research analyst) but Verizon requires employment information before it will disclose the specifics and my search did not yield any outside information].

Yes, we will get the coveted Apple employee email address (at least it's coveted where I work haha) and I believe someone posted on here that the percentage at another cell company was around 21%. That's around what I'm getting with the place I work now with Verizon so it honestly wouldn't surprise me if it's roughly around that amount.

Has anyone not gotten their offer call that is scheduled for 9/24 training date? I submitted my HireRight and I called them today and they said it was sent to Apple on Monday 8/27. I am just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as me?

Timeline

Seems as though everyone else posted a timeline and I forgot to post one.

July 15 - Applied with a new Apple ID since I couldn't get my original one to work.

July 24 - Got antsy and decided to apply again but with my exisiting Apple ID and to every nearby state and city.

July 24 - 3 Hours later received an email with a questionnaire and replied back 3 hours later.

July 25 - Received call randomly from a lady at Apple (the recruiter referred to her as the "sourcer") in the afternoon and she just confirmed the information with me that was sent in the email from the previous day. I answered all questions and she threw me for a loop when she asked what was an operating system. I know enough to get around a computer and troubleshoot my own stuff but not a ton. So I took a wild guess and she told me it was correct but to make sure I'm confident in my answers with the recruiters in my interviews. So she told me that she would set up an interview for me with the recruiter for the next day and it would be via Facetime. And this was my first time using Facetime. lol

July 26 - Interviewed with recruiter and it was very short. about 15 mins. ked a couple simple troubleshooting questions and that was it. She passed me on to the next step and told me I would get an email in the next 24 hours to complete the official application and set up another interview.

July 26 - 3 hours later received an email for the application and interview. Filled that out and set up interview for August 2.

August 2 - Completed my interview with a team lead. Very laid back and informal. Lasted about 20-25 minutes. I posted a while back about the types of questions he asked, etc. He said that he would send out his recommnedations abck to the recruiter and i should hear something in about a week or so.
August 2 - 50 minutes later i received HireRight Email. Completed that and sent it to them.

August 3- Received email from HireRight about missing information. Sent in all necessary documentation. Received almost immediate confirmation of receipt of that.

August 9 - After sending an email about progress, HireRight informed me that they already verified everything.

August 16 - Received call from recruiter offering me the job. (I did not receive $15/hour but not less either). I was told that I would be receiving an offer email and i would need to respond to trigger them to send my paperwork and also that email would allow me to set up a paperwork session.

August 20 - Received offer email and accepted. (Offer letter said more than what she told me).

August 20 - 10 minutes later received email for new hire paperwork session. scheduled that.

August 22 - New Hire Paperwork Session. Went to Apple store 3 hours later to verify I-9. Unsuccessful due to manager not filling out I-9 correctly. Went to another Apple store to verify I-9 and submitted it at 6pm.

August 23 - Called to check that I-9 was correct and received. Soon after, received email with fedex label to mail the forms back in. Dropped those that afternoon.

August 29 - Received welcome email from Apple with a link to a page that gives more detailed information about basics, more stuff that was already covered in the paperwork packet, and a few other links.

Now just waiting the email about my equipment. Training begins Sept 10 and I've cleared my schedule to make sure I can focus on it when the time comes.

yep that's what I was getting from my old job and the guy at my wireless provider was saying we get about the same for Apple but possibly better discounts in terms of apple accessories.
And I look forward to receiving my coveted apple email addy. lol

I'm excited about it as well haha and excited about the discounts especially since they've gone up. I got that impression as well that being directly with Apple would give me a better discount on my accessories. I think with my company right now I get like 25% off accessories in the Verizon store, but maybe the apple stuff will be a bit more discounted.

Here is my timeline

8/15 Applied with resume and cover letter

8/25 Email from recruiter asking for additional info (I did it immediately)

8/27 Phone call from recruiter quick interview. Just a few questions, and she advised she was putting me through. Received email later that day advising interview via skype the next day.

8/28 Skype interview - basic questions i.e. can't send or receive email what do you do? What's an OS? She advised she was putting me through.

8/29 Received email advising to select interview date with hiring manager, and fill out the Apple application. (all done immediately) Later, received confirmation of my Skype interview 9/6 with hiring manager.

Me: I have extensive PC background building, upgrading etc. compTIA A+ Certified, CompTIA Network+ certified, WinXP Certified and by training 10/8 will be Win 7 certified.

I am in the Dallas area and really looking forward to working at Apple. I'm light on Apple experience, but quick learner and computers are my thing.

Anyone else at this point? 10/8 class

What can I expect with this final interview?

In Dallas area too 10/8/class

Thank you much for the input! I feel really confident as far as customer service goes. I know a lot about Apple and have always been a computer nerd, just doesn't show on paper. I'm sooo hoping I get offered an interview because once I can actually speak to them instead of type, I feel like I could win em over. Or at least up my chances by a lot.

Definitely going to be making a Pages doc full of notes I find here and on Apple.com.

Oh & just to put it out there, the questionnaire listed 10/8 as the date training begins. I'm from a suburb of Dallas & applied for the Dallas and Frisco AHA positions.

I really hope they give me a time frame of when they will call (if they want to move forward with me, that is) so I can make sure I'm awake & prepped to the fullest extent!

I'm in Wylie, and have my 3rd interview with a hiring manger 9/6. Class date is supposed to be 10/8. What casn I expect on the third interview?

----------

If your questionnaire from an Apple recruiter asked if you would be available to begin training on 10/8, keep us posted on when you get your phone call after you respond!

Not that I'm antsy or anything.

Received email questionnaire on 8/25
Received call on 8/27 short interview
8/28 Skype interview
8/29 Application and schedule 3rd interview for 9/6.
I'm in Wylie

----------

My phone line is through my ISP as well, and all I pay for is the standard, basic POTS line (plain old telephone service). No frills. I can make local outbound calls, no long distance, no caller id, no call waiting, nothing. I never get charged anything extra, there's no "overloading" the line at all. It's no different than you personally receiving lots of telephone calls. I don't see how they could charge you extra, either.

In my experience, with who I work for now, and who I've worked for before, I've always been told the systems won't work with things like Vonage. If Apple uses Avaya, it's just a software interface that connects you to them via your phone line.

My wife works from home and we have Time Warner for phone and internet. Phone is out of the modem and works fine with Avaya. When they say a dedicated landline I think they just mean you dont share your phone line for internet like we did years ago, and some still do.

I took notes on my ipad and had it with me during the interview with just bullet pointed steps but I tried not to make it sound like I was reading from a list of notes. I would say it can't hurt to take some notes and be prepared. I mainly gathered questions from here and questions from my previous interviews to take notes with.

1). What would you do if your MacBook wasn't powering on?

2). What would you do if USB device won't connect?

3). What type of CPU do you have and what hardware does it have?

4). How to fix Mac mail?

5). Hard drive memory vs RAM?

6). Define Wifi, hotspot, Bluetooth?

7). Troubleshoot a wireless printer that won't connect

8). How to restore deleted app?

9). Describe a situation where you had to boot CPU in safe mode?

10). Someone drops an iPhone and it won't turn on what do you say?

11). How do you keep yourself in a positive attitude when you're stressed?

12). What is empathy?

13). What is a hard drive?

14). How do you delete, move and create a group with an app on your iPhone?

15). When have you set a goal, accomplished something, and how did you over come the obstacles?

16). You attempt to sync and iPhone to iTunes, what do you do?

17). What is an operating system?

18). Why do you want to work for apple?

19). How would you troubleshoot an iPod?

20). What steps would you take if your Internet was not working but you had to start working in 3 minutes?

21). What is the most recent technical issue you've had with your computer and how did you fix it?

22). How do you think you'll handle working from home without co-workers?

Did any of these questions get asked??

Wrong... Or misleading at best. What they want is a line that is used for At Home calls and nothing else. They were not referring to old analog modems that used dial up internet.

Questions posed vary based on the interviewing style of the individual interviewer. Some had direct Q&A and others underwent role-playing techniques. IMHO, I would just be prepared to answer all sample questions (and more) in any manner as presented. In short, the posters have provided very good study material and you cannot go wrong with taking advantage of their generosity. ;) Go :apple:!!!

I had two interviews and the sum total of questions(both interviews) I got were the following:

2). What would you do if USB device won't connect?
4). How to fix Mac mail?
6). Define Wifi, hotspot, Bluetooth?
12). What is empathy?
17). What is an operating system?
18). Why do you want to work for apple?
21). What is the most recent technical issue you've had with your computer and how did you fix it?

All relatively easy. The only one that stumped me was 12). What is empathy?
To which I replied, "I don't know and I don't care."

I think you're joking.....but if you're not, I don't think this is the job for you. Knowing how customer centric Apple is and the fact that they have very high csat expectations I can't imagine that you would last long.
Like I told my interviewer, technical skills can be taught and they are great to have, but empathy and a positive attitude are things that can't be taught and are just as important to the customer.

Thanks eckorecko for the pay schedule info!

Of course I was joking but thanks for your horribly pedantic spiel, it was quite entertaining. If I was not joking, obviously I would not have been hired and would no longer be posting here.

Cripes! I need to bail on this thread and go back to reddit, you guys are just plain boring. Ciao!

Hey susan23 - any updates from you? Has your acceptance email shown up?

Interesting....well you should definitely be on the list to receive the email before me then.... Still plenty of time I would think. They must be slammed in the processing dept.

Yes! I finally received my offer email on Wednesday and my email to set up the conference for the new hire paperwork on Thursday. I will be doing that on 9/4! How about you?

i got my second interview 2 days ago and didn't tell me anything about them moving me forward to a 3rd. It wasn't until the end when i said "hopefully i hear back from you guys soon!" until he said something along the lines of "looking over candidates in the next 2-3 days and you should hear back something until then" ...

but everyone posting here is saying that their 2nd interviewer notified them right off the bat or by the next day that they'd be moving forward to a 3rd interview

so doesn't look like i'll be doing a 3rd interview :mad: .. which is unfortunate because i have a degree in the IT field a long with an extensive background in the field... not sure where i messed up at, i kept a positive attitude the whole time and answered all the answers without hesitation.

oh well

So, what is the probability of getting the job if I went as far as the background check? Had my last interview last Thursday and was told I would know something around 5 days. I'm going on day 6.
