Has there been a case where a port of a PC game on Mac has been exclusive to the App Store? I can’t think of any reason Capcom or any other company would choose to forego Steam for the Mac App Store. Sales volume alone would make up for any amount of money offered by Apple.
Beyond a Steel Sky is exclusive to the App Store as it’s in Apple Arcade. Maybe there’s a Feral game that’s Mac App Store only.

I'm sure you all know E3 is on, or off this week (they cancelled the in person event 3 years now, the online version was suppose to be going on) Anywho it's the trade event for the gaming industry. Plenty of announcements going on.
Here is a good list of the schedule.

Maybe there will be a Mac demo, announcement, or recognition someplace???

Nah. Microsoft had their big release schedule event today and I can count the number of games to be released on macOS on one hand. :) I’ll keep watching other events, but I’m pretty sure that, even after Capcom and Hello Games spoke at WWDC, there’s still not going to be a lot of games released for the Mac.

If there is, I will boil and eat my socks.
Careful there, Capcom has an event and they’ve just been on stage at WWDC. So maybe they’ll let people know RE Village is coming to Macs. ;)

On the other hand, if they don’t mention the Mac at their event, it speaks volumes about what the WWDC announcement meant to them.

He already said it, so it would count as a sock eating event! We want a full video.

Here though, I don’t necessarily agree. Presenters present to their (perceived) audience, and want maximum impact there. You don’t introduce Diablo-the-mobile-loot-box-hell to a PC audience. The E3 audience isn’t the Mac community, and it would be strange if that wasn’t reflected in the communication.

Aside from WWDC does the Mac Community have another event where games could be announced?

No, the audience isn't Mac specific, it's a multi-platform gaming community. We'll have to wait and see what they announce and if they at least mention something like "coming for PC, PS4, PS5, xbox and Mac". Or if they leave that part out as well. I have no idea what they might announce or show though, I'd guess RE4 remake and maybe the new Street Fighter. Other than that, no idea.

Only Apple events then, following the audience logic. But one has to understand that E3 is very different from what we've seen in the beginning. The larger companies always did their own events in the recent past, just at the same time as E3. We've always seen every platform there, just like Blizzard announced Diablo Immortal at Blizzcon. Anything we see at these events is multi-platform and not specifically tailored for a platform/audience. What can happen is that some titles are shown at several events, for example, we've seen titles from Ubisoft at both Microsoft and Sony events.

But that's the point - Capcom already announced Resident Evil:Village for the Mac at the biggest event possible in order to reach that audience. The current plethora of gaming related presentations is targeting gaming in general, not the Mac niche. As GrumpyCoder pointed out, I too would expect "coming for PC, PS4, PS5, xbox and Mac", but not "at least" as he put it, but rather "at most". Be that as it may, I look forward to enjoy popcorn while admiring valiant sock eating. 😀

Um, do you recall which of the games they announced for Mac?
Was one of them Redfall? Ara: History Untold? Minecraft Legends? As Dusk Falls? Pentiment? Starfield? Hollow Knight: Silksong? High on Life? Overwatch 2? Scorn?
Based on this article of titles released, https://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/xbox-bethesda-games-showcase-2022-everything-announced/?amp none of the games announced mentioned any other platforms except for XBox Game pass and PC.

You’re correct, and I can count “zero games” on one hand. :) There’s not going to be a lot of releases for macOS in this year or any year in the near term.

At least we got one Microsoft game updated to be native on Apple Silicon - Minecraft.

I don’t know if I would call it a AAA game, but many people still call the most popular game on the market.

Eh, I don’t see how anyone could ever imagine that Microsoft would announce titles for anything but Microsofts own platforms.
Does anyone expect Sony to announce games for XBox (or Mac)? Nintendo?

Of course they bloody well don’t.

Some of the games announced are coming to PlayStation though. (Diablo, overwatch, I am sure there were others). For sure anything that said console exclusive may be a timed exclusivity and may show up on PlayStation later.

Is that really native? I haven't played it in a while, but I'd expect an updated version supporting a Java version that is optimized for Apple Silicon Java. In that sense, it wouldn't really be native as it's run in the JRE.

they are using an Apple Silicon native version of Java to run the game. I think folks really want the bedrock version brought over from iOS to the Mac.

So Capcom mentioned it… list-of-systems-“and Mac”. I watched it on Twitch and after a few thousand “Mac MEGALUL”s, the chat went back to normal. I do wonder though, why does every Capcom game look like absolute garbage by today’s standards? It’s really shocking how bad these games look. No wonder they love upscaling, this is how it went down…

”Hey where are our high-res assets?”
”Forgot to save them, damn!!!”
”Don’t worry, we’ll take the 32x32 ones and upscale”
”Cool, that works!”

I’m in for RE4, that’s it.

they only seemed to mention the Mac for RE8. None of the other RE games.

I’m saying that the platform holders own studios that produce titles used to promote their platform. So when platform holders do presentations of new and upcoming titles, of course you won’t see support for anything but their own.

Eventually this can change for select titles. Sony has ported Horizon Zero Dawn to PC for instance, but it really is an exception, and years after release on Playstation, beyond the point where Sony has much hope that driving additional sales of hardware will make them more money than selling the title to a new demographic.

Personally I find the current development of platform holders gobbling up even the few large AAA capable publishers that used to make multi platform games, and turning their products proprietary is a(nother) nasty trend in AAA gaming. Shareholders cash in though, so it has to be good, right?

We’ll see how things develop in the future.
As regards gaming under MacOS specifically, the best that can be hoped for is that platform independent developers release some of their titles for Macs. There is nothing strange about this, that’s the way the industry works.

Yes, RE8 + DLC only. Odd, because they're all running the same engine and no platform specific optimization. So it would take the flip of a switch to run on macOS as well. But maybe that's their deal with Apple. 🤷‍♂️
