This makes no sense to me.
Best guess is that Apple is aware that Trump is pay to play and only has any type of loyalty to those that give him $$$. I'm thinking that Tim is making it a personal donation to keep Apples name off the doner list but still being able to leverage some favor while able to technically say they didn't donate, but he's making enough in stock and stuff that 1M is like nothing to Tim.

SO it may be a way to also participate in Trumps little game while also attempting to keep Apple itself clean.

I don't know where people get this stuff. This is the kind of thing fanning the flames, right here.

This is business. This is what grownups do. Obviously Trump does not "hate anyone who is "gay or transgender" as he is clearly doing business with people who are openly so.

Obviously the Republican party and Trump personally do not make it a front and center issue at all times like the Democrats do. That doesn't mean hate.

Really wish supporters and prominent members of both parties would just show a little more pragmatism. If we can't get anything done because we hate each other over peripheral issues, then that is the true failure of America.

And speaking of pragmatism, why don't we forget all of the above and think about the political system of rich individuals and companies paying the campaign costs of our "elected" leaders. Let's put some of the criticism on the real issues.

Money is speech. Think about the implications of that one.

Edit: wow actually thinking about that one, even taking everything quoted at face value, then why would you not want Cook to give Trump a million dollars? That's how he gets influence for the things he wants, which presumably do in fact align with your stated values on this issue.
This is perfectly stated. You should run for office. Oh wait, never mind. You're being reasonable. Disqualified!

That argument is like saying "I'm not racist some of my favorite people are black". You can be white, literally marry a black person, and still be racist.

Being willing to do business with them to make money on the deal does NOT relate in ANY WAY to if he hates gay or trans people or not. Your logic is massively flawed on a BASIC level.

Looks like snake Time Cook has joined the club of crow-eating ring kissers. I remember seeing Tim Cook making a huge deal about J6— clearly thinking Trump was history and could be crapped on. This donation is totally insincere and 100% strategic. Why even do it if everyone, including Trump, knows it?

It's their job. It's what they're paid to do. It's what they are legally required to do. It's nearly impossible to make an argument to the contrary that isn't full of emotional reasoning.

Personally I think your point is only true if you ignore what we know of history and what Trump has already done and threatened. But that’s just, like, my opinion man.

This is nothing more than Bizzare... Trump hates anyone who is Gay or Transgender, for an openly gay man such as Tim Cook to donate to a criminal is BIZZARE what is wrong with america.. i mean really.
Unfortunately, America voted him into office. So... Yeah.
This is definitely to ward off any other legal matters towards Apple for the next 4 years. Which is good business.

Because Trump gets over things really quickly when it comes to money.

I tend to blank out with the convicted criminal lawfare allegations. The plaintiff didn't even have to prove he was in Bergdorf Goodman's, and Judge Juan Merchan's take on hush money is conveniently prejudicial.
And yet a federal appeals court upheld the verdict and the judgement. I suppose they were all prejudice too? 🥴

10 years of fan fiction derangement has taken its toll on the general population, for most.
In addition to being told the economy is stellar and inflation is cooled and crime is down, despite everyone's eyeballs observing differently.

..Did you not see the election results? It was a mandate. Not a single swing state fell for democratic garbage. He won popular vote too, to dispel 'muh popular vote though'.

Keep up whatever it is you're on about though. For you will need to be 10x louder than the average person to lead them to believe your opinion is that of 10 persons.

I’ve stated facts that you look up for yourself. And barely squeaking out a win is not a mandate.

Some might say, you're the only person to have said that in this thread.
Lol

Tim is one of the best techno-hookers in the business. Look at his relationship with China. And I mean, heck that’s the name of the CEO game. All the other big tech CEO’s went to Trump’s mansion to kiss the ring after the election. They’re not stupid.

Maybe MAGA stands for Make Apple Great Again 😂🤣😂

It’s symbolic. $1 million is a drop in the bucket for both Tim Cook and Donald Trump. With the threat of tariffs it’s a smart move by Cook.

Weird that Cook (nor anyone else) thought fit to donate to Biden’s inauguration “in the spirit of unity,” particularly considering it was mere days after a violent insurrection at the US Capitol.

Guess we can be relieved Cook didn’t subject Apple to this pathetic display of subservience.
He most likely did but the media didn’t try and make some controversy over it.

This x10000. Businesses and their public facades play both sides of the political coin. Nobody is going to risk a multi $$ billion (in this case) business employing thousands of folks cause some schmuck (irrelevant of affiliation) gets elected. And before folks get into the whole muh principles thing, don’t forget that a business’ principles revolve around $$$ and only $$. If businesses had principles we wouldn’t be typing these messages on devices made in China, now would we.
