More power to him.

Glad to see that someone in his position is comfortable enough to be open about this. The times they are a-changin'

As a gay man, I didn't know that there were speculations about him being gay. Good for him though, we should all embrace people based on their character and work ethic, not on someone's private life. It must have taken guts for him to come out, I know myself it's not easy!

Tim seems like an extremely private guy, so I'm happy he felt the need to share this with others— He is a great role model for gay youth and this really shows that there isn't an upper limit on what you can achieve simply because you're in a minority.

Nobody should ever be treated differently for there Sexuality! I support the LGBT community and this to me shows us that the most powerful people in the world are part of the LGBT community. I hope this really helps the LGBT community to see that there should be nothing stopping them from getting to the top!
Though its sad that in 2014 this is seen as a front news page story! It would be nice that anyone could come out without being bullied, trolled or made fun of because of their sexuality!
But Tim, I salute you for coming out Gay as I got a feeling that this could help change a lot of how people see the LGBT community as the CEO of the largest company in the world is part of it! :apple:

To be honest I'd prefer if people did keep their personal lives personal...

I was surprised when I saw this though! Isn't it kind of a bad thing if people look at someone else, their behaviour, dress etc. and say "oh look, he must be gay". So much for equality in 2014...

Props to him, this sets yet-another great example for the young ones and corporate types everywhere.

Now, can we please get a Mac mini that doesn't suck?

I kind of figured. Good for him. It must be horrible to live in society that someone feels they can't openly be who they want to be. I'm sure he feels a whole lot better.

This must have been the worst-kept secret in tech.. I thought he had already acknowledged this.

Unfortunately, we aren't. :( Especially not for a company as large as Apple, with branches into countries with far worse conditions than many in the Western world.
Too true: plenty of countries will toss gay people in prison or worse.

Yet, this "private life" you talk about is celebrated for going public. And more and more people say that it's time to "come out". Doesn't make much sense to me to be honest. As soon as something is made public it becomes a subject of judgment; it goes for sexual as it goes for hobbies.
However, as much as I might disagree, if he feels better then he did the right thing. No need to lie.

Who in the hell cares and what the hell does this have to do with making computers and mobile devices???

This is the kind of crap that makes me mad. Someone using their high position as a business person to push a personal agenda. Just do your job Cook and leave your personal life at home. I don't need it in my face.

I've never cared about a person's sexuality. It's none of my business. Tim came out for himself...I'm sure it's not easy hiding who you are, afraid of the unnecessary judgement of others. I'm sure he's relieved that this is behind him. Nobody should hide who they are.

Unfortunately, there are people who make someone else's sexuality their business. There will be people who will not want Apple products because of Tim's sexuality. We call these people "morons".

Michele Bachmann will now claim you can get AIDS from an iOS device. It will make for some interesting political theater...
