I'm coming out because of Tims announcement.

I'm male, 57 and attracted to 20 year old woman with a nice ass.
There I said it.

Good for him, that's gotta be incredibly difficult to do publicly. I wish he would explicitly support equality before the law though. Equality throughout history has led to massive moral atrocities, and unspeakable violations of human/individual rights... Supporting equality in the proper context is great, but you need to state the context in which you support it explicitly, and every time... It is a very dangerous thing to be misunderstood.

Kudos to him though :apple:

I like short, busty, zaftig redheads and I don't care who knows it!

Onto Tim: good for him!
Like many have said here:
* everyone already knew
* should keep private life private
* why is this a "thing" in 2015?!?

But perhaps there're some gay people who, for some reason, feel ashamed, etc.
and maybe, just maybe, Tim's "coming out" will instill in them a sort of confidence & inspiration.

Maybe? What world are you living in? Of course there are and of course seeing people like Tim come out publicly is a good thing. What's wrong with you? Please inform yourself of the goings on of a particular community before putting your foot in your mouth.

Good for Tim. :apple:

Who in the hell cares and what the hell does this have to do with making computers and mobile devices???

This is the kind of crap that makes me mad. Someone using their high position as a business person to push a personal agenda. Just do your job Cook and leave your personal life at home. I don't need it in my face.

I don't think you're getting the "why he's doing this" part.

This isn't about showcasing one's private life, this isn't about trying to become a Kardashian to make money by exposing every sordid detail of your personal life, this is about using one's very prominent position to set an example for those who believe you cannot be openly gay and lead a successful professional life - you know, like kids who are raised to believe that being gay is not normal.

Best thing about this thread is that it's given me an opportunity to see who the intolerant forum members are and add them to my block list :)

I've never really understood why people have an issue with homosexuality, when it has absolutely no effect on their lives AT ALL.

It's no different to if my neighbours are into kinky bondage...doesn't influence my life.

The woman across the street may practice voodoo, wouldn't influence my life.

Tim Cook is gay, doesn't influence my life.

Only things worth getting angry about in life are the ones that directly affect you and your family, if it doesn't, let it be, don't worry about it and carry on as normal.

Anyhoo, good on him.

Your problem is that we all know now that you are gay yourself, but for some weird reason you are afraid to admit it to yourself and the world.

Real men are not afraid of gays. You are.

Change the apple logo to a banana since the apple represents Adam and eve please.

Nobody should ever be treated differently for there Sexuality! I support the LGBT community and this to me shows us that the most powerful people in the world are part of the LGBT community. I hope this really helps the LGBT community to see that there should be nothing stopping them from getting to the top!
Though its sad that in 2014 this is seen as a front news page story! It would be nice that anyone could come out without being bullied, trolled or made fun of because of their sexuality!
But Tim, I salute you for coming out Gay as I got a feeling that this could help change a lot of how people see the LGBT community as the CEO of the largest company in the world is part of it! :apple:

//My BOLD
I disagree with the sentiment that it's "sad". I think it's great! The more people see and understand that LGBTQ folks exist, are successful, aren't threatening others way of life, and are happy being who they are...the sooner they (we) will experience inherent equality.

I used to think it doesn't matter that I was Bi and it's no one's business but my own. But after a while I realized I was being selfish. I was only concerned at protecting myself from other people's thoughts about it rather than helping change people's thoughts.

Remember all, in many states it is perfectly legal to fire me because of the simple fact that I am attracted to women AND to men.

Good on Tim for coming out.

Makes no difference what his preference is.

If it makes no difference why does he need to publicly come out? Everybody knew or suspected he was gay. Nobody cares. It has no bearing on his job as CEO of Apple.

With a Greek Orthodox background, your background probably meant you never considered the issues and ideas of the Reformation. i.e. you're a product of your religious background, prior assumptions accepted.

No it's not something I've really had to consider. The Protestants, Catholics, Lutherans and Calvanists out there can have their own wacky take on things, it doesn't affect me being Greek, or my people, so... whatever...

File this one under the Pope has no authority here on Earth above me as a christian person anyway, nor does anyone else for that matter. Christ is the head of the church, the Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew I is the first among all equals.

Normal is where how majority behave. Sex is betweenness and women. Marriage is betweenan and woman. If we cold tolerate homosexual, are we gonna tolerate sex between human and animal? How about human and objects?

The majority certainly doesn't behave like you do. If you were in my home and talked like you do, I wouldn't know whether my wife or I would be quicker to kick you out.

Being a gay is normal? So is sex with animal is normal as well? ... , it goes beyond nature.

Two different topics: we are talking gay. Sodomie I would agree is not normal.
Homosexuality also happen within some kind of animals; so I would say it is part of nature, it just impact negatively the desire for reproduction.
Else I really don't care if one is homo, bi or hetro. Doesn't matter.
What matters is: Consent.

I thought he had already said he was gay? Maybe my mind is just playing tricks on me. Anyway, it obviously didn't come as a surprise to me.

It's a shame that he has to come out and say this. Not just him but any gay person. Good on him anyway. It's a step closer to equality.

It doesn't matter what you are...white, straight, black, christian, bisexual, muslim, gay, jewish....and it doesn't matter if someone doesn't like you because of it. As long as you're happy and proud of who you are! :)

I certainly support him as CEO of Apple. But certainly don't support his homosexuality.

+100000

He's an ok CEO, and for a few yet as there have been some speculations of his orientation, so for me this changes nothing about my opinion about him. Now other people who didn't know this will be shocked and want to not support Apple at all anymore. As long as he keeps on working at Apple and stays "single" then everything will be ok (probably doesnt have time for a relationship, and I hope he doesn't)

The TL;DR Version:

Good CEO, pretty much knew this, as long as no relationship, everything is good
