And this attitude is why stuff like this is still news. We can't seem to let go of the idea that your race, sex, or orientation somehow alters your value as a person in arbitrary ways.
Oh, and I forgot religion. We can't stop assigning arbitrary value to faith either, so long as it is our faith.

I didn't know nor do I care. Why should we care?
We care about what Tim Cook does with Apple and its products. We do not care about where Tim Cook puts his genitals.
They will evolve as a race is the day we stop using animals for food. we have to respect life in general before we can except someone sexuality.
Wrong. My husband and I got married in 2010. Only last year could we file Federal tax returns. We STILL cannot file state tax returns together as married. Therefore, we are NOT treated as equal to a heterosexual couple. If my husband goes into a hospital with a life-threatening injury, they can (and many have to other couples) not allow me in the room, deny me access to him, and not allow me to make medical decisions for him. Straight married couples don't have that problem.
So, yeah... you couldn't be more wrong.

Easy, the same reason anyone is irrationally racist or bigoted - their own lives are pathetic and it gives them comfort to find a scapegoat for the reasons they failed. Or, sometimes, they just like to feel superior to others. That also gives them comfort.

No such thing as god. No one has been able to prove otherwise. People can make all kinds of empty platitudes about something can't come from nothing and this and that but that still doesn't even come close to being proof there is such a thing as a god. I'm sure in another 1000 years those people will think the religions we have today are nuts....I don't know why people haven't realized that this cycle goes on and on and on.

but seriously good for him although i don't think people are obligated to come out publicly anymore, in my opinion it emphasizes a conception that shouldn't exist in our culture in the first place, like an indirect apology for being different, Tim or any public figure shouldn't feel like they owe the world an explanation for being the way they are.
