You can buy official batteries yourself... that gives you a pretty good idea that they cost less than the sale price to produce. 😅 As for labour costs, you can Google that for a good idea too. This isn't rocket science, jz0309.

Edit: The only time I didn't replace a battery myself it was when I was in China, and for $20 I got an official battery installed. I know labour costs little there, but they wouldn't subsidise parts costs to appease the tall foreigner 😅
Hogwash.
How many times in the lifetime of a 16Pro will the battery be replace? Once, maybe twice. And the phone costs at least $1000 in the US.. so all this about an additional $120 or maybe $240 over 5 years or so?
Whatever

I'm not normally one to complain, but the iPhone 16 Pro line battery replacement represents a nearly 90 percent jump in cost from pre-iPhone 14, when battery replacement cost $69 (and still does on the SE and obsolete models). That was waaay back in ... 2022!

For those commenting: the battery in the iPhone 16 is the one that is said to be easier to replace. The battery in the Pro models is quite different (and inside a metal thermal dissipation casing) so may not be as easy to replace.

All four devices have the same updated battery design. It's purely a cash grab for Pro customers.

I'm glad T-Mobile buys me a new iPhone every two years. Don't have to worry about battery replacement, just replace the phone.

I was gonna say, the real shocker for me is that even the iPhone 13 is $89 now. I thought it was still like $50. 🤷‍♀️

They’ve already significantly raised the price not long ago.
On top of that, those raises prices won’t be passed down to workers actually doing the work or suppliers supplying those batteries.
