I'm seriously considering getting an 8 plus now and just sell it once the X becomes not insanely supply constrained :/

Now that doesn't sound like a bad idea considering that those who had their hearts set on an iPhone X, most likely, won't get one till some time ion 2018. Actually, I'd be shocked if I was able to get one at all this year. So 2018 it is.

Not surprised. The X preorder is gonna be the biggest cluster f of all cluster f’s.

I agree. It's hard to believe that Apple didn't forsee this severe delay. Perhaps, it would have been wiser to Launch the 8 models this year and the X next year (since that's when most will be getting them any way).

BTW.. who is WFH or taking off on Friday?

I would but I'm retired so I have every day off. Seriously, I skipped on the 8 and will look for the X in 2018.

Could you please share a photo taken by the phone so we can inspect the EXIF? :)
Certainly! Hopefully the forum doesn't munge it too much...

That happened when FedEx tried delivering my MacBook last October!! My dad was home all day waiting for it for me to sign, and they didn't even ring the doorbell when they attempted to drop it off! i ended up getting a notification saying that no one was home and they would redeliver the next day. Luckily i called them quickly enough ( i was stalking my email/tracking for the delivery notification) and they were able to swing back around about an hour later to deliver it. But same thing happened again... this time we left the authorization slip out just incase and they never knocked or anything, even after i told the guy to knock on the door because my dad was in fact home.
Grrrrr! So freaking irresponsible! They actually did the same thing with the delivery of my 2 3GSs back in 2009. I was home all day, well within earshot of the doorbell (and door), and only realized that the phones had been delivered when I happened to step out the front door because my cell reception was crap. And they weren’t even stacked nicely; they’d obviously been tossed from the front walk onto the porch. Just ridiculous.

Thank you! They said the sensor was larger, but the EXIF doesn't seem to back that up, unless they are using an exotic lens design. Strange!

iPhone 8

29mm equivalent focal length
3.99mm actual focal length

29/3.99 = 7.268 crop factor (the larger the crop factor, the smaller the sensor)

iPhone 7

28mm equivalent focal length
3.99mm actual focal length

28/3.99 = 7.017 crop factor

It would seem the iPhone 7 sensor is actually a bit bigger, but the difference is so small it could be given only by the the way the stated 28 and 29mm equivalent focal lengths were rounded. If the iPhone 8 sensor is actually bigger, it would have to be only a tiny bit bigger than the iPhone 7 sensor. Unless an "nontraditional" lens is being used.

Finally got shipment info from UPS. Coming from Rialto, CA. I switched to UPS pickup so I can grab it when the center opens tomorrow at 1pm. I didn't want to have to worry about about missing a UPS delivery.

my order for pick-up at Apple Store was 'pending' on my CC... but now it's disappeared. Not pending and not charged.

It depends on the bank too. I had two charges on two separate cards and only one charge fell off today.

Scratch that, the second one just fell off.
