Maybe if you get UPS Premium you can change the address you want your package delivered to? Worth the $ if that works so someone else in NY doesn’t end up with your new iPhone.
Only Apple can ask UPS to reroute the package.

My DH’s 12 has been stuck with the same 11:27 departure time and arrival 10/21. I agree though that they won’t deliver until the 23rd.

I will look forward to seeing you eat crow on Thursday. Mark it down.

I have stated nothing definitive. Therefore, I will be eating chicken nuggets and fries per my usual Thursday. If you read all of my post regarding shipping and deliveries, I’ve effectively said that **this year might be different**, COVID has radically changed literally everything, and how I have noticed some abnormalities in the preorder process vs the past 8 years I have preordered. I’m not sure where I said I knew with certainty or led anyone to believe I had “insider” information.

TLDR;

Not sure of anything. 2020 has been a crazy year, I wouldn’t be shell-shocked if we saw early deliveries. As stated early, hoping for Wednesday, preparing for Friday.

Just got off phone with UPS. They said they cannot change the address and its locked by apple. This is insane. Its still in China and I cant prevent it from going to an old address. what in the actual f*ck
Can you get it changed to pick up at a UPS CCenter? Using Premium UPS? Apple can’t stop you from doing that can they?

Ive called apple twice to change the shipping address to the correct one, and when I find the shipment on UPS it still says its going to NY (old address)

If this phone gets delivered to my old address im screwed. Dont even know who lives there. Its been 4 years. Someone will get a free IP12

Tell them you are on vacation and need it delivered to the local UPS facility where you "live" this happens every year. Not a big deal if you do it TODAY.

Hopefully we see an activity tonight folks it’ll be 12 hours since any movement. Ugh

I checked. It has been since 11pm last night. I will be on 24 hours no movement from ZhengZhou tonight.

After participating in these threads for years, this is the first time ive ever seen this many people with 10/21 dates. As for me, im 10/21 too. Ive never had a date before launch date.
Been following same thread type for many years. Personally have never seen posted UPS delivery dates earlier than advertised delivery date. Odd one for sure but there’s hope given that cases and chargers are arriving ahead of schedule!

Add me to the list of people showing a 10/21 delivery date. As others have stated, I've pre-orderd through Apple at least 4 or 5 years in a row now, and I've never seen a delivery date earlier than the release date. With that said, the phones are not going to get delivered early. The dates will 100% be pushed back. We all know that's not how Apple operates and they would never allow it. Be prepared for your delivery date to change. I am.

I am 110% in agreement with you. This year has been crazy. I talked to T-Mobile rep today and they had said they have no "holds" or any directives from Apple like in the previous years. I have been reading the AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon pages. Most of the delivery dates say 10/21 and some say delivery for 10/23.

The date confusion is an abnormality that so far I cant explain. My logic says we will be getting them early because UPS refused to accept any holds due to the pandemic. They have been running around like holiday season all year since no one wants to go out shopping.

I learned today from an Apple rep that the Apple website will not update for UPS shipments until the next business day. Saturday and Sunday don't count. Our notifications will show it is stuck in (preparing for shipment) since it is a weekend.

Tomorrow or when business hours begin in China we will see a huge surge is shipment updates and UPS updates reflecting actual delivery dates.

but this is COVID season so things could change up. People started receiving Apple Watch few days prior to the release date.

It’s early morning in China 9:47AM - possible we might see new scans tonight!
