I hope my local Apple stores reopen so that I can pick up the preorder there,

If Apple allows in-store pickups, they will have to be very limited, and appointments will be hard to get. They can’t allow crowds like a normal launch day. And in-store setup will be more difficult with customers and employees wearing masks.

Is the Apple trade in program really that good? Will trading in a phone that’s only a year old be worth it?

The upgrade program is designed for people who want a new phone every year. If you don’t want to trade in each year, there’s no point in signing up for it.

mmWave will not go into production until December? 👀

I’m puzzled by the reference to the “mmWave Edition”. Will there be a separate SKU and up charge for iPhones with mmWave? That sounds unlikely, but I wouldn’t mind seeing it, given how rare mmWave towers are. Plus, it would give our resident troll something else to whine about. :)

yeah, probably just let them ship it to me

That is the week of thanksgiving isn’t it? That is going to be a mess, consider there are no deliveries on thanksgiving and they’ll be behind the day after, along with all the holiday shopping too

The week of Thanksgiving is the start of the holiday for UPS, FedEx, USPS, and other shipping companies, so that’s a good question regarding the day after Thanksgiving. I know for sure that USPS do not deliver mail nor parcels on Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Does this mean the 27th would be delivery day? I would be surprised if Apple has iPhone deliveries during Thanksgiving.

I will probably make my final decision once the phones are announced, but I am leaning towards the 5.4" iPhone. Have had the XR the last 2 years and every Plus phone going back to the 6 and I feel ready to go back to a smaller phone especially with the redesign. Will be nice to have a phone that should be comfortable to hold with one hand again.

UPS Holiday Schedule

No company is dumb enough to release anything the week of Thanksgiving. Ive been saying all along that you won't be seeing the Pro models until Dec and everyone laughed. Looks like Im going to be right. Dec.

Quite possible but then everything has to move on Wednesday, 11/25/2020. AFAIK, I'm sure no packages are being moved around on thanksgiving day..
I meant to say during Thanksgiving week, didn't mean Thanksgiving Day.

Yes and even from Black Friday to the middle or so of January, you are going to be fighting with the already overloaded deliveries. I would not want to be a delivery employee with Christmas AND iPhone delivery rush

There is no way Apple will release Pro models by December. You have to think about the quarterly earnings too.

Release date for pro models seems to be Late October or Early November much likely.

Apple clearly dont care about quarterly earnings any longer, or else they wouldn't be so late with all their products recently. The low end iPhones won't even be out until the end of Oct, if you believe that rumor. No way we see the pro models until late Nov, early Dec. My money is still on Dec.
