It would have been a year out of warranty had I not had AC+.
Oh I caught that. They tried that nonsense when I took my dad's 6 in with the same issue when it was 2 years out of warranty, and I walked out an hour later with a "new" refurb 6S. The fact that this happened around the same time "exploding iPhone batteries" were all over the news helped my case I'm sure, but when I pointed out that charging 50 dollars to correct a potentially deadly hardware/design defect was a bit ridiculous, the manager changed his attitude towards the situation pretty quickly. That's not normal wear and tear, nor an expected fault after extended use, it's a massive lawsuit and bad PR waiting to happen, and something Apple should have a carte blanche zero cost repair policy on for those reasons alone, to say anything of it just being the right thing to do.

While I see your logic, I just want to play devil's advocate for a second. I haven't used a case since the iPhone X. As the screen sizes have gotten bigger, I've found adding cases makes the phones too bulky for my liking. On top of that, I hate the idea of covering the phone designs with a case. The iPhone Upgrade Program comes with Apple Care+ and the deductible for a shattered screen is $29. That's $6 less than the price of your case. I think careful people can live without a case (with the worst case scenario being paying $29 for a replacement screen). Of course, if you crack it once and have it replaced, I would seriously consider putting a case on it after fixing it because my recollection is that Apple Care + only covers two instances of accidental damage.

I really think it comes down to the person. I have friends in the construction industry who would break their phone once every two weeks without a case. Conversely, I sit at a desk and try to be very careful with my phone. It's not uncommon for me to only drop my phone once every few months, if at all.

I am also very careful with my phones. I haven't broken one yet, but I still get a case out of a sense of being overly cautious. This year I got the Pacific Blue color and couldn't stand the thought of covering it up. I always use Spigen cases because they are really quality cases with a reasonable price tag. This year they have a Liquid Crystal clear case, so I ordered one to see what it was all about. It came i yesterday and I am beyond thrilled. Its still bendable, no slip, reinforced corners and buttons, and the clarity is incredible. It's going to look awesome on my iPhone 12 Pro.

Can you link me to the case? I’ll check it out.

You can't even start preorder till Nov 6th with first deliveries on the 12th of Nov. Your Apple contact smoking some good stuff.
They’re talking about the pre approval for iUP and Apple Card financing. Same thing that started multiple days before 12Pro preorder, and same thing that opened several days before preorder last year, etc. no good stuff required

Right, but I was talking about screen protectors, not cases, which is why I added "even if you don't use a case." I'm totally onboard with folks who eschew getting a case for the reasons you point out, but a screen protector should still be given serious consideration for the reasons I pointed out. I've yet to hear a good argument against them, but as you say it does come down to the person. For me, 35 bucks to protect a thousand dollar investment with no measurable degradation to the user experience is absolutely worth it. YMMV.

There you go. Definitely check it out. Of course I also use a tempered glass screen protector. I'm a little neurotic about my phone.

I agree. These cases are amazing. I got the updated version which I posted above in a previous post.

I looked at that one as well. I didn't see anywhere that it was bendable. I hate the feeling of hard plastic in my hand so I went with something that has some give, but I'm sure it is great as well. I have had 4 Different Spigen cases so far and they have all been amazing.

What is width of the screen on the iPhone 12 mini? I understand the overall screen size is bigger than the 4.7 on my iPhone 8, but but since the body of the 12 mini is not as wide as that of the 8, I wonder about differences in width of the actual screen, which I consider much more important than height.

That makes sense. Might have worked at my store too had I not had AC+ and needed to go in that direction.

Gotcha. I still think my argument applies though. $35 for a screen protector vs $30 deductible to have the screen replaced...

Spigen makes good stuff. My folks both have Spigen cases on their 8's, and those phones have survived some "interesting" mishaps.

I like the screen protector to cover the sensors in the front too, I dont like those cutout screen protectors that leaves the front camera prone to scratches. Ive been using the one that covers them and had no issues for years.
