I ordered a graphite 512GB iphone12 pro on pre-order day at 120pm BST (20mins after pre-orders opened) and it is till showing on the apple website as preparing to ship. It still shows an estimated delivery date in California for Friday 23rd. Can anyone help me understand what's happening ?
Check your reference numbers on UPS, one of them should be your order number. See if it matches tour phone order number.
That’s not how this works. Many years of experiences buying apple products from those in this thread. They are almost all shipped from China and not “drop-shipped” from Louisville like this. Apple’s “preparing to ship” does not indicate anything other than they haven’t updated with UPS info but the detective skills in this group know we can get more info and thus obsess over this.
You may want to try tracking on UPS to see if you can find your iPhone. it may be that your phone is on its way. Apple will not update the website until the day before its supposed to arrive.

Random slightly off-topic question, but you'd think Apple would be fine with selling me another 20W charger when I am in-stores on Friday, picking up my phone? I ordered one online for my wife, but figured I might as well grab another. Do I bother ordering online for shipping or even store pickup when I will already be getting my phone via in-store pickup? I'm assuming whoever is helping me can just grab one and ring me right up?
Chinese customs must be holding our phones. Hopefully they will be released soon and head our way though we may not make the early release if that happens. I believe we will still make the official release date - 10/23.

depends on the store - some are pre-order only - so I recommend pre-ordering so they have it ready.
it hasn’t worked that way in past years but with airlift being in such short supply this year due to small number of international passenger flights, they may have brought some over already. It would make sense to start earlier this year vs.past years.
i’m just guessing. Nothing else to do during this waiting. But I did order within the first two minutes when the pre-order started and I see absolutely nothing, just preparing to ship for 4 days now. So my wandering mind is trying to come up with a reason why it hasn’t moved on the UPS site using all the variables, phone number, reference number, reference number with and without the last two digits. You guys know the drill. So my thinking is, Apple sent a whole bunch of iPhones from China via Alaska to Louisville just prior to the pre-order, and when we did pre-order, Apple saw something that appeared to be what I wanted sitting in Louisville and it assigned it to me for later release. Again just guessing, no one really knows.

First time in this mega thread. To be honest I was disappointed to see that UPS is the courier. For me, these guys are very late, inconsistent and just plain terrible. But ...... LOL, I gave my UPS guy and Fedex guy healthy tips early in the year and I even have the UPS drivers cell #. I'll text him in the morning if I know I have something on the truck!

When I try doing store pickup it just says “unavailable“ for literally every Apple Store near me, including the one that I am picking up my phone. I can order for delivery, but it will come on Friday — just figured if I am getting my phone that morning might as well grab a power brick.
Which could explain why UPS93 flight is delayed. It was suppose to take off more than 3 hours ago. To the point that UPS77 already took off and it was a 3 hours later flight.
You won‘t get a tracking from Apple until they show it shipped. However, you can search on UPS site by reference number to find a tracking number if its in the UPS system. Use your phone number or Apple order number minus the last two numbers to find your tracking number. You can also sign up for the free version of UPS My Choice and that will show you all UPS orders being delivered to your address. If UPS has your phone, it will show up there.
If its not, it may already be here stateside. If that’s the case, then you won’t get a tracking number until the day before.

Sorry for asking a slightly off topic question. Did anyone here order the MagSafe Wallet and getting theirs on release day? I ordered one with my phone order and got an order confirmation for November 3 delivery. It now has a November 25th delivery.
I don't have it either. Just shows delivery for tomorrow between 1 and 5 pm, though as we've established here, it's unlikely to arrive until Friday.
