Other Apple.com iPhone 12/Pro/Max/Mini Pre-Order/Order Status/Delivery Thread (2020) [Merged]

Just checked my iPhone 12 Pro for the first time today (slept a bit later than usual). I'm shocked to see that as of last night, it is already in Anchorage, AK. My recollection is that in previous year it did not get to AK until the last day or two before the delivery date.

Initially, tracking said my phone was going to be delivered on 10/21, but now it just says:

Scheduled Delivery

Please check back later for scheduled delivery.

With that said, if I dig a bit deeper into things, i.e., try to change my delivery window, it still shows my Original Delivery Date as:

Wednesday 10/21/2020

8:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Checked there also - nothing except to check back later unless I’m not looking in the right place.

The Apple website says the same thing for me, as well. But when I check elsewhere - like on UPS, for example, it's saying it's shipped and already on it's way.

I joined in the hysteria as well: how‘s the weather in Anchorage? Delivery on October 21? Ahh, UPS you won’t fool me again... I hope I lose the bet it won’t arrive until the 23rd.
 
A few points, since I don’t have a horse in the current race as my delivery is Nov3-6.
Customs scans can happen when the plane lands at PANC since that is the point of entry into the country, though it is usually just a refuel and possibly re-crew stop. Sorting happens once the planes unload in KSDF or KONT.
I ordered my wife’s phone through AT&T and the tracking for that says “future delivery requested”. So the chances on early delivery are about 0 as it looks to me.

I ordered one online for my wife, but figured I might as well grab another. Do I bother ordering online for shipping or even store pickup when I will already be getting my phone via in-store pickup? Shouldn't be a issue as its a accessories and you'll be in for a pickup of your phone. However if you can order for store pickup for the 23rd I still recommend that just to be safe.

i’m just guessing. Nothing else to do during this waiting. But I did order within the first two minutes when the pre-order started and I see absolutely nothing, just preparing to ship for 4 days now. So my wandering mind is trying to come up with a reason why it hasn’t moved on the UPS site using all the variables, phone number, reference number, reference number with and without the last two digits. You guys know the drill. So my thinking is, Apple sent a whole bunch of iPhones from China via Alaska to Louisville just prior to the pre-order, and when we did pre-order, Apple saw something that appeared to be what I wanted sitting in Louisville and it assigned it to me for later release. Again just guessing, no one really knows.

That is very possible. Five years ago or so, I got no update from Apple. Track by reference didn’t show anything. Thursday rolled around and I was beyond worried that I wouldn’t get it Friday. Thursday evening, I had an email from Apple showing my phone was being overnighted from Louisville, as the origin city.

Based on that experience, I am pretty sure that they begin to ship iPhones before pre-orders as you guessed, and a select few end up with those phones.

Good Morning everyone! It is 6:19AM in Las Vegas, Nevada. Yesterday was such a tough night. Glad everyone is doing ok and holding on just fine.

Last scan still at 8:34 in Alaska. I think we should be getting an update within 2-3 hours.

If all holds true, scheduled arrival for CAO1007 is 12:30 pm EDT. FlightAware has an estimated arrival of 12:24 pm EDT right now.
