They aren't "slowing them down". Launch day is Friday. They are moving through the system just as Apple and UPS have planned, for months. Just like they do every single year.
I'm talking about plans and expectations that Apple has to live up to and execute on. Early releases and leaks could cause ripple effects in many areas of society.
It was fun while it lasted! Mine has been changed to the 23rd like everyone else. Looks like my preferred 2-hour window still applies though.
Just went from “information unavailable “ to the 23rd by end of day.
But the reviewers have their phones and published their unboxing/first impressions already. Preorder customers getting their phones early doesn't seem like they'd have many repercussions to apple. Might encourage more preorders next time around because they MIGHT get an early order.
It does work, though I've never tried on launch day. In most cases, it requires the driver to "break route" to meet the commitment, so drivers aren't especially excited about those.
I think Apple tries to treat all customers equitably more than “spoiling the surprise”
street dates are adhered to across a wide breadth of products outside of Apple land not just phones

It could still affect carriers and the like. I'm speculating... but there are most likely plans around when these devices can be activated on carrier networks that are probably still being implemented as we speak.
its my first time trying the confirmed window too, I wait all day sometimes for the truck to stop circling the neighborhood and arrive at my house lmao
True, maybe getting their support staff trained and ready. I'd assume the carrier plans and network should be ready before then, maybe final stress testing networks before.
They don't actually want you to preorder for shipment. They want you to go into the store, and hopefully buy some other products.
Mine has stayed on 10/21 in mychoice, the full page status went to 10/23, now the full page is back at "Please check back later for scheduled delivery." and the mychoice still shows it for wednesday
Yeahhh but this year, my nearest Apple store is Apple WTC and they don't even want us in the damn store
Mine just got updated from 10-21 delivery to 10-23 as expected. As many in here left Anchorage at 8:34

My thumb got into a fight with a knife tonight while cooking dinner and lost, so now I’ve got 4 stitches in it, and typing one handed on my 11 Pro Max is really difficult. Was hoping my 12 Pro would come tomorrow as the easier size will be easier to type on one handed. Guess I’ll be fumbling around for a couple days.
