Just discovered that FedEx's Contactless delivery is not so contactless.

I purchased a case, 20W charger, and the MagSafe charger and they were just delivered. The problem is that I woke up on Sunday feeling awful and I was advised to take a COVID-19 test. I got tested on Monday and I'm still awaiting my results. Meanwhile, the FedEx delivery man requested a signature. I told him through the closed glass patio door that I'm waiting for results and shouldn't touch his scanner and he got annoyed that I couldn't provide a physical signature. Does FedEx not have procedures for this? Anyway, he left the two packages on my doorstep without a signature. Will they leave my iPhone on Friday? (Hopefully my test comes back negative by then!)

I’m going to have to go the same route but with Verizon. I may sit it out for a while and not get the new SIM card until 5G is in my area.

5G is in my area and I’ll likely want to take advantage ASAP. But I can just pop my current SIM card in until I get get over to the AT&T store

My phone’s situation:

Apple website: Preparing to Ship
UPS My Choice: Still in China
Phone with UPS: Apparently already in the States and they say it will be delivered on Friday.

Did anyone have any issues in the list with phones having left China but not showing up a departed scan on UPS My Choice? This is confusing.

I'm thinking we'll see updates/movement Thursday morning (closer to noon) when (possibly) our peers that are still in China join us via the Air China Cargo flight scheduled to leave CGO in about 8 hours from now (scheduled to arrive SDF at 9:20 am EDT on 10/22).
That’s about right, as this when the hold is taking place. Once they are imported, they go into the normal delivery rousting so that can’t start until timing-wise it aligns with Friday delivery.

Wondering if Covid will cause a lower amount of lineups for picking up the device in stores. Don’t think we’ll see long launch day lineups at  Store worldwide.

I have been lucky not to break my iPhone for sure but I can tell you by posting the photo of my iPhone XS Max used without cover or screen protector for 2 years. YouTube will have lots of videos of broken screen and glass because nobody will upload video of how iPhone looks without cover :p

It will of course break if not used properly.

I don’t use cases or screen protectors, either. My iPhones look like new when I sell or trade them. I’m careful.

So assuming the next Air China Cargo flight that does PVG-CGO-ANC-SDF-ORD is carrying the final set of launch day deliveries:

Air China Cargo flight 1007
Departs PVG: 10/22 5:05 AM CST (China Standard Time)
Arrives CGO: 10/22 2:35 AM CST
Departs CGO: 10/22 5:05 AM CST
Arrives ANC: 10/21 9:50 PM AKDT
Departs ANC: 10/21 10:50 PM AKDT
Arrives SDF: 10/22 9:20 AM EDT

or, what if the lines are extra long because everyone is 6 feet apart? People will have to be hyper vigilant for line jumpers with all of that extra space. 😃

I just changed my plan to the Unlimited Elite to take advantage of 5G when I receive my Pro Max. I do have 5G in my area, which is great. This brings me to my question. I was planning on pre-ordering the sim free edition and using the sim from my XS Max. Will I still need to get a new sim to take full advantage of the 5G, or should I order the AT&T version through apple and try to get the activation fee waived?

Does anyone know if I have two appointments for Friday for two different phones can I pick them up at the first appointment or will I have to go back for the other one?

Hope your results are negative.
The iPhone has delivery requirement due to the high value.

You should do this if you can't sign it - have your state ID ready to put up against the glass and have the driver enter that.

Or print out a signature release page w/ tracking # on it with copy of your ID that the driver can take to release your phone.

For my camera lens that was sent FedEx signature required last week, I didn’t even have a chance to open the storm door. I opened the front door, he saw me, backed up, put the box on the ground and said “Signature required, I’ll sign for you.” and walked away. I’m pretty sure I was dressed, so I think that was just COVID protocol.

My Fedex delivery man does the same thing. So does my UPS delivery man. This time around I am having the phone and accessories to my office. They physically come in, and sign for me.

I was planning on sitting home all day awaiting my UPS man but that plan took a turn this week. Monday and Tuesday this week I had my apple accessories delivered (Case one day and screen protector the next). Apparently we have a new UPS guy and he delivered to the wrong address both days. I couldn't stop him in time to help him understand the addresses. So now I can't risk my phone showing up at the neighbors across the street so I'll have to pick it up at the UPS CC. :(

All of my orders explicitly say they’re having carriers only do contactless delivery, so none of mine are showing signature required in the tracking info.

I would definitely hop over to ATT and grab a fresh SIM card when you receive the new device, if the unlocked model, they should not charge you any fee to activate it. If they say you don't need a new SIM card for 5G kindly remind them that per Apple's official guidance new iPhone's should be activated with a new or their included SIM card to ensure optimal data and voice performance over cellular irregardless of 5G.

What’s interesting is the 12’s start at $799 but are online for $829 because the activation is included?? That I don’t know. But the 12 pros and pro max are priced without a $30 add. So maybe your pro max already comes with it waived?? 🤷🏻‍♂️

But I’ve been with AT&T long enough that they’ll try to stick me with an activation fee if I get a new SIM card no matter how much I say I’ve been a loyal customer for 15+ years lol

I’ll see if I can have a chat with AT&T and see what they say

Where did you get this from? we can’t use our existing SIM card on iPhone 11 PRO?

does the last update state that it arrived at the facility in zhengzhou? I am hoping they didn’t scan ours and indeed UPS is correct. They likely have access to more accurate systems than we do.
