They don't actually want you to preorder for shipment. They want you to go into the store, and hopefully buy some other products.

maybe prefer you just order through carrier and let them handle individual shipping. keep other resellers happy

I've ordered a silver iPhone 12 Pro. I ordered it within the first three minutes of 5 AM the 16th. It's supposed to be delivered Friday the 23rd. It is sitting in preparing to ship and I haven't received a shipped email yet. I am in the San Francisco Bay area. Is anyone else's phone scheduled to deliver on the 23rd and hasn't even shipped yet? I don't see how it can get from China to me in two days.

Everyone is in this boat. Apple doesn't considered your order "shipped" until it is in the US and has been loaded off the shipping pallet. Your phone is sitting in Louisville, KY right now. On the UPS website, you can use "Track by Reference Number" and enter the phone number associated with your order and it should pull up the tracking.

I have seen the phones get from China to my door overnight. You will be fine. You might already have a tracking number if you search by reference number as other posts in this thread can explain. But even if not, it is exceedingly likely you get your phone

When I tried track by reference it asks for a date range I don't know what they mean by that it always gives me an error message for the date range no matter what dates I put in.

Just discovered that FedEx's Contactless delivery is not so contactless.

I purchased a case, 20W charger, and the MagSafe charger and they were just delivered. The problem is that I woke up on Sunday feeling awful and I was advised to take a COVID-19 test. I got tested on Monday and I'm still awaiting my results. Meanwhile, the FedEx delivery man requested a signature. I told him through the closed glass patio door that I'm waiting for results and shouldn't touch his scanner and he got annoyed that I couldn't provide a physical signature. Does FedEx not have procedures for this? Anyway, he left the two packages on my doorstep without a signature. Will they leave my iPhone on Friday? (Hopefully my test comes back negative by then!)
Sometimes you could post something on your door with a signature? I do that sometimes and have no issues with them accepting that. But yes, they should be contactless

When I got the SE, they had a way to Waive Signature in the tracking. Problem was I did that but they still left the missed you tag. Why even have the choice if they don't leave the package?

Anyone else have Apple show delivery as 10/23 still, but also Preparing to Ship? Doesn't seem likely...

if you read through all the reviews you would’ve seen mine and others that are in the same boat. This is the fifth day that mine shows it’s still preparing for shipment. However Apple well send out the iPhone on time regardless I’ll be possible unforeseen snafu.

So I have UPS to redirect my package to UPS access point location as I will be out of town on Friday and saturday

currently UPS says that
Code:
Delivery to a UPS Access Point™ location is pending.

Any idea when this will be updated and reflect that will be redirected to access point? I heard it will be updated once it gets to distribution center, can someone confirm?
Yes once they get the import scan or destination scan it usually updates.

Anyone can answer if there is a way to pre sign for UPS?
No there isn’t because you don’t need to sign. Says it right on your order.

It's up to the drivers discretion to honor that tho. If they feel like it's not safe, they won't leave it. But with this COVID-19 it's quite possible they might just leave it, who knows. I have mine set to be picked up at the UPS CC.

It’s funny it still shows delivery today on the my choice list Even though the tracking says Friday.

Well you know COVID was going to change everything this year! NOT

Apple is Apple and money talks. I have a suspicion that they play UPS vs Fedex against each other. All my accessories are coming from FedEx. But when the iPhones come they arrive from UPS year after year. It's always the same thing, and as I've said, I've had it in Kentucky on Thursday evening and it still made it back to LA the next morning.

And of course Crickets from Apple till it gets scanned in Louisville. So i don't ever look there.
