I am all set for mine and my wife's preapproval. I went with Pacific blue for myself but now I keep doubting it. I wish there were real world pics of it. From what I saw on the GMA show, I wasnt in love with it. I generally like how sleek the black phone looks, especially with the edges of the phone basically blending in.

Do we think shipping times will slip quickly for the Pacific blue pro?

I'm pretty sure the Pacific Blue will go first to slip the date but who knows. I plan on getting the pacic Blue for the 12 Pro max. I'm sure they are mass producing the max and mini as well even though it won't go on sale.

So, I just changed my plan to include 5G on AT&T. It comes out to $30 more a month. From what I have read, my XS Max sim won’t be able to access 5G if I were to get a sim free version? If I get the AT&T version, can I have them credit the activation fee?
I just spoke to AT&T about changing my plan as I currently don't have unlimited data and want access to 5G. They said it has NOTHING to do with the plan. If your devise has 5G and it is available in your area you will receive 5G automatically. I said are you sure? He said "I'm pretty sure but let me talk to my manager to make sure." He came back and informed me it has nothing to do with the plan. I'm glad because it would have cost me $30 more a month as well.

get off at&t. they are just a terrible company ripping people off. $30 more a month for their 5g. i would switch to verizon at that price. im happy with t-mobile who is going to charge me $0 more a month for 5g. verizon is for sure faster and more reliable but im not paying that much so i’ll deal with t-mobile. it’s actually good in my area. I've been with AT&T since 2007 (first iPhone, switched from Sprint, which at the time was atrocious). I've never had a single issue with AT&T, and their customer service, the few times I've had to call, has been fine.

Earlier this week I switched my 5-line family plan from an older unlimited plan to the Unlimited Elite plan, and it will be $30 less per month than I've been paying, so your mileage may vary greatly depending on which type of plan you're coming from, and moving to.

I would check again. The plan I had was Unlimited Choice II from 2004. It definitely wasn't able to to access 5G if I got the new phone. I had to change to Unlimited Elite plan. I wasn't able to do it for only phone. I had to do it for all 5 lines.

Sorry, But I dont think that's true because you have to have 5G added into your plan in order to use it. I would double check.

How did it become cheaper from an older unlimited plan? I came from the Unlimited Choice II from 2004.

In ideal conditions, 4G LTE is fast enough for most people. One problem is that these good speeds lead to data usage that is constantly increasing as the quality of media improves and download sizes grow. With LTE technology, there will be a hard ceiling on the amount of data one tower can deliver and the user experience will start to suffer.


Currently, you need one of AT&T's more expensive unlimited plans to even access 5G so it's really only worth it to the heaviest data users.

I agree it doesn't make sense and I would think I need to change my plan. The guy I talked to was very adamant that the plan has nothing to do with it even though everything I read says different. I will find out in a couple of weeks. If I don't get 5G on the new phone I will switch plans.

I hope the guy you spoke to was right about not having to change plans and please keep us posted. What plan do you currently have? My brother also called and they even told him that the plan had to be changed, just saying.

I have a family share plan with 20gbs of data a month with rollover. I have unlimited text and talk but only the 20gb data. My wife an I only use about 5gbs a month as she works from home and I am mostly on wifi even at work. My plan only costs $130 a month including 2 Apple watches on the plan at $10 apiece as well. The unlimited plan will cost me over $160 a month for our 2 phones and 2 watches.

I feel your pain. I have to go from $85 to $140 ($55)

Then they changed their mind again and ended with YES you do have to have an unlimited plan. The don't know what the heck they are doing, and that was 3 different people, all with the same confusing story. But their websites all claim that you have to have unlimited to get 5G, and so do the other outside sources such as this one --> Cnet 5G Article.
I'm with you. Everything I've read about getting 5G with AT&T claims you have to have one of the 3 new unlimited plans. That's why I called to change. I was ready to make the change and pay more and he assured me I didn't need to. I am very skeptical and do believe I will end up having to upgrade/change my plan in the end if I want 5G.
