....and now I’m addicted to staring at the UPS app waiting for the next update.

Last update was 2.5 hours ago when it arrived at the next facility in ZhengZhou.

Yeah. It’s the first time I chose to pick up at the store. No tracking fun.

Not sure if any of this still works the same way, but a couple of years ago I ordered a MacBook Pro on release day for in store pickup and I was able to track by reference on UPS/Fedex to the store. It was still fun to see it go from China all the way to being signed for by my local Apple Store manager.

Last week, my 12 Pro was tossed onto my front porch / door - the UPS driver didn't even ring the doorbell, knock or otherwise let me know it was delivered.

He treated it as if it was a ground service package!

Glad my Ring doorbell caught movement otherwise some porch thief may have grabbed it.
I think it depends on the UPS driver. We have a regular driver that knows I work from home and I've always told him to just sign for my packages. We live in the country and I have 4 GSDs so no porch pirates coming around here. However we've had a new dude that is coming sometimes and he rings the doorbell DESPITE my sign by the door asking him not to! It makes the dogs lose their mind and it's usually when I'm on a conf call. I have a Kuna camera that alerts me when someone approaches the door. :(
 
Me too. They seemed to focus a lot more on the new blue color and the “new” gold color rather than the silver or graphite in the Pro series. Going for the Gold! Case-Mate has a new awesome Ombré case that is clear at the top graduating to gold twinkle at the bottom. Already ordered that one.
That's the exact case I got lol omg we have the same taste :D

I chose to pick up my iPhone 12 Pro Max from the Apple Store, so I am unable to track my iPhone. It's 22 minutes to the Apple Store and 30 minutes to the UPS Customer Center, but I'll have to park at the mall and walk to the store. The store is in a much nicer area than the CC, however. I hope I don't get mugged coming out of the store.

My leather MagSafe case is out for delivery. I wasn't supposed to get it until Wednesday. I guess I still have to wait until Monday as it is being delivered to my office.

In my case ATT tells me to either use the box my iPhone ships in to return or it's sent via Fedex....so nope - it's the phone :). Of course given ATT's logistics sending an empty box from China would not be so unbelievable either :)
AT&T never even gives me a box. I think for my 6s Plus it was some paper work and a bubble mailer from Apple. A bubble mailer. I found a box to put it in. I was not trusting that phone pounding through the system in a bubble mailer.

I think that year I end up with a little bonus, too. I sent it in a little late and forgot to include the paperwork. So I called eventually when the charge for the phone appeared on my bill. The woman at customer service did some checking and said 'oh we can see where it arrived at the warehouse' and removed the charge. A week later the phone came back to me from AT&T with a note that pretty much said 'We don't know what this is for so we sent it back.'

Sold it. WOOHOO!

....and yeah, I’ve worked from home for a while and the UPS and FedEx folks never ask me to sign as long as the front door is open.

They like to talk to my buddy through the glass.

True story - I had 3 of the German shepherds inside the house and our storm door was closed and locked. They were barking as this new UPS dude was walking down our sidewalk to the front door and the dogs were losing their minds. I went to the door to hold them back (because yes they have taken the storm door once) and had to hold them inside the house b/c the UPS guy stopped walking and held his hands in the air like he was under arrest and had started walking backward until I waved him to come forward. He was delivery something I had been waiting on and I wasn't about to have him not drop it off - lol. These days when I know UPS is coming I close the front door so the UPS dudes feel a little safer. The dogs are never allowed outside of the fenced in backyard unless we are with them but apparently they are still scary barking and growling at the windows (and before we replaced our windows they had broken more than one of those too...). Handsome guard dog you have there!

How do you check on UPS, with what information? I ordered my 12 Pro Max 128gb Friday morning 5 minutes after it went live, thru the App Store app on my iPhone. Order still shows Processing. Do I have to wait until it says preparing to ship to get any information?

This is for delivery in Canada, if it makes any difference.

Also in Canada and my order is still processing as well. If you have a UPS My Choice account it should show up there soon or you can track by reference number using your phone number I find usually works for me in Canada. PS Go Leafs!

Apple's Store finally went live for me at 5:27am. Got my order in for Pro Max, Pacific Blue, 512GB and also picked up a MagSafe Charger, 20W Power Adaptor, and Apple's Deep Blue Silicon Case. Nov 13 delivery on the phone.

I was not impressed with how Apple kept displaying the "Almost There, still putting the finishing touches on the store" message. When the store is supposed to be live at 5am and you got up in the middle of the night, that kind of message drives angst and worry. If it is as simple as the website is flooded and Apple's servers can't handle it, why not put up a message that says "Demand is high, but don't worry, we'll get you in as soon as possible"?

Not impressed Apple. That was a poor shopping experience.
Unfortunately, that very thing happens literally every year. I’d have been beyond shocked if I got in right at 8 am, tbh. Just keep refreshing and get in as soon as possible. This, for me, was one of the most painless preorders so far (and I’ve had a new phone every launch since the 3GS, so I’ve been through some STUFF. Lol.)
 
Ordered 3 256Gb Pro Max's yesterday around 9am EST (an hour after it went live), all are Preparing to Ship and one already showed up in UPS My Choice.

I hope they ship all 3. There was someone that ordered 2 Pros and Apple cancelled one and said due to demand he couldn't order more than one. This was one person - others had ordered two and had no issues.... I had never heard of that before...
