What? They are not a self storage facility. Their job is to deliver things to you. That is what is certainly more efficient to them.
They are probably tired of dealing with the mass number of people that order it and then immediately hold it at a center to simply to try to pick it up a little faster. If people don’t want it delivered - pick it up from Apple.
Keeping it for customer pickup also creates a security and liability risk for UPS. And there have probably been a lot of claims made because phones go missing from UPS holding care.

No info in my UPS app yet....

That was not my case. At least ordering through Apple with AT&T, I only had the option to cancel the order.
Right because if you did it with the carrier info, it actually pulls from your AT&T account. But for those who ordered a sim-free model, during the processing stage you can change the address. For carrier models this must be done on their actual account first and then after that orders can be placed.

My 12 pro max is in the hands of UPS. Sadly UPS has change the way they present info when tracking by reference number and hide most of the info so you don't see the whole tracking number and can't click to track. My UPS my choice does not show it as well as I'm having it shipped to my work.

My order is still stuck in processing ugh.

"As soon as the item is ready, we will send you an update". Does that mean it will probably get delayed even further? I am low-key getting scared seeing others moving to Preparing to Ship and mine is still stuck in Processing :(

then that shouldn’t even be an option. they should’ve kept the ‘pickup’ only if your signature required delivery was unsuccessful 🤨. granted a lot of people are at work during most delivery times depending on the area and can’t sign for it so that’s an easy option or like you stated pick it up from apple. but some people aren’t as close to an apple store than a UPS facility.

Shout out to my pickup peeps and our "Order in Progress" status that wont change until Thursday at the earliest haha
Yeah. It’s the first time I chose to pick up at the store. No tracking fun.
Ill be picking up this bad boy at the store later today.

I apologize for calling you a troll. I thought you said that you were getting the iPhone on Nov 6. I must be more careful.

My info on AT&T was right. It was on two lines... but Apple just got one line, not both of them.

Could someone post an example about how to search by reference in UPS? I'm searching by phone number and it's not showing, but I don't know if it's because of the format or something. Any image example? Thanks!

11/01 ordered PB 12 Pro 512G showing in transit in Japan, delivered by 11/10
11/01 ordered Sliver 12 Pro 512G showing in transit in Zhengzhou, China, delivered by 11/09 (unlikely)
11/06 ordered Glod 12 Pro Max showing preparing for shipping, delivered by 11/13.
