But they would have to make DFU restore over WiFi possible somehow

Actually you are correct there! I accidentally bricked an Apple TV 4K while it was updating its OS. (Whoops!) Apparently there’s a mechanism that can clear help clear its current state and return it to true factory setting (sort of like a backup drive that holds on the footprint for the tvOS version that came with it). Sadly, after 3 attempts the Apple TV will claim that its dead and needs a complete swap. Imagine that at the iOS level! Yikes!

OMG!!! It’s finally here! I was waiting for your post friend. It looks stunning beautiful. You are going to love it. Hoping to be traveling with you again next year and hope I don’t miss the plane. I was so bummed out when you took off from KY and I was on my way from AK! At the end it did worked out great. Enjoy your phone. Stay in touch.

Congratulations once again!!!!

Thanks! Still trying to get caught up on the thread from yesterday. Have loved traveling with you and everyone here. Already missing hanging out. Think I’ll head over to the case form after I get caught up here. Need to decide which of these cases I’m going to keep an by maybe try some others. Already loving some that have been posted on this thread. Hope you will stay in touch as well. Enjoy your new phones!

My 12 Pro Max is still showing that it’s connected to LTE. I turned on 5G in cellular settings and still on LTE. Am I missing something?

So I'm taking some (shameless) shots of the Graphite color of the 12 Pro Max with my car, and I'm loving it. Part of me wants to look into how I can get the black a little more metallic, then recoated. For those of you who are Audi fanatics ( @XxxBlack, looking at you dude! ? ), it's currently closer to a Nardo Gray than a Daytona Gray.

But my mind kicked into some other creativity when I noticed that the MagSafe magnet is strong enough to stick to a car hood!

That, my MR friends, is pretty hard to do without a magnet! The front curve of the hood gave just enough surface to hold the phone in place, even when it was backwards.

Before we start trusting this and putting our $1000 on the front of our cars like a GoPro, it's not strong enough to deal with turns, much less stay on the hood for too long. That being said, one could, in theory, just put a small piece of metal on a gimbal / monopod / whatever to hold up your phone without the need of buying a specific tool for it. Something to play around with for sure!

I opened it, looked at it, then took it in the bathroom (better light and I've heard a steamy atmosphere helps cut down on dust in the air) and applied the screen protector. When I finished that, it went in the case. Only then did I even turn it on. :)

Third phone in a row where I've not touched the screen. I did that with my X and when I traded it the guy was impressed with how nice the screen was. Of course it was. It had literally never been touched! I went through multiple screen protectors because I'm a klutz, but I'd just take it back to the mall, drop it off with Zagg, eat lunch, then pick up phone.
I totally understand why people protect these very expensive devices. I’ve never used a screen protector, and I rarely use a case, and every year when I get a new iphone, the old one still looks pristine. Apple employees have complemented me on how great the phone looks, and they’re astonished when I tell them I carry it without a case or screen protector. The cases just kind of ruin the experience for me.

Still, I totally get the need to protect it. Lots of people love to accessorize, too. ?

I keep all of my boxes for no reason other than that they're really nice. I crack up when I go back to look through a few of them from time to time and find the headphones or charing wires. I guess Apple wasn't wrong to not include these accessories after all. Still a bit burned about the USB-C brick though.

Yeah it irritated me to buy a charging brick since I don’t have the 11 Pro Max. Luckily I bought a 30w brick from Verizon for $10.50. I haven’t used it yet. I’ve been using my 5w charging brick from my XS Max.

Your car looks too clean... now I’m shamed, so I have to go put my car through the wash🤣. All kidding aside, very nice!

Yeah, I don't want to complain, because this phone seems like a solid release, and it seems there is too much complaining on the internet in general, but I think it would have been nice if they just did away with the port all together. just would have made sense, in MY opinion.
No! Not everyone has a wireless charger. I don’t own one and there isn’t one built into my car so without the lightening port how am I supposed to use CarPlay?

yeah someone else just pointed that out to me, and it should have been obvious, but I wasn't thinking. I live in the city, and parking and driving are a nightmare, so I have spent like 5 years taking Lyft and the bus. just not accustomed to the car anymore I guess.
