Yeah and there is some thought about when it flips to shipped on the Apple Store App. I figured as soon as it left China but folks here say that it could flip as late as Wed/Thurs when it leaves Louisville, KY for home delivery.

I think if you've been charged (as I have) it's all fine. We're in the very early stages of shipping/tracking. Updates will come in waves.

It is phenomenal that my phone is in China on Tuesday and will be in my hands on Friday. Gotta give Apple and UPS props for the logistics. Honestly I think the tracking should be better though. I used the App Store app and it still says preparing for shipment when it's obviously already started its shipping journey.

Why would it be better? As long you're getting it on Friday!

That’s not an accident. They don’t want customers to see that it comes from China. That’s not something they want to highlight.

Anyone order their phone unlocked from Apple but planning to use with Sprint? Not sure what the process is going to be like to get a correct sim for it....ugh...
I’ve done that... you just go to the sprint website and click on activate a new phone or whatever, and follow the steps. You should be able to use your current SIM card.

Do you even need to register the new phone with your carrier in the US? Here in Canada the unlocked iPhones you just need an active SIM card. pop it in (phone on or off doesn't matter) and as long as the SIM is active you go on your way.

My carrier still has me logged as having a iPhone 3G.

Sprint is a CDMA network, so you can’t just do that. You can on ATT and Tmobile...

Can you imagine the planning and execution that has to go into that? These are a couple pics from when I pre-ordered the iPhone 5 from AT&T. It was the night before launch. First one is FedEx flights inbound to their hub in Memphis (AT&T received iPhones through UPS from China but shipped FedEx to customers) and then the second one is the outbound flights one hour later. They unloaded/loaded and turned around all those aircraft inside of an hour (maybe a bit more but still). Incredible.

They aren't hiding anything. 99% of the people that pre-ordered their phones are going about their day confident that their new phone will arrive sometime on Friday. They'll pull up the notification they get from Apple or UPS that it's coming and that's about it. The group here is a unique breed that enjoys the masochistic feeling of refreshing a web page we know from experience Will. Not. Change. The real fun starts tonight and tomorrow and that makes it worth it. Just remember though, we are outliers.

So are most people putting their phone in a case? I've carried my phone caseless for the last 2-3 years and intend to continue.

Even if I wasn't worried I might drop it, iPhones are slick as snot. I don't know people hold them without a grip.

We are the 1%

So due to some wacky billing issues, I’m getting one through ATT and one through Apple. Both are for the same line but I paid for both in full. Both have no more option for shipping. Am I screwed? Is there something I should do?

Have you called customer care at AT&T yet? Or Apple? those guys will have a clearer picture of what's going on with your order.

Wait until they both come. Only open one. Return the other. I did the same thing last year. The line at the AT&T store happened to be shorter so I went there (after activating my Apple one). Money went back the next day.
