Last year, I was first in line at the gate at my UPS hub. About 10 of us had to wait for them to open the gate. As we followed the UPS lady across the lot to the counter, the guy behind me walked really fast past me to be first in line at the counter. I thought, "dude, whatever". UPS lady took everyone's tracking number at once, and brought all packages out at the same time. The UPS lady knows me from my frequent visits (I pickup other stuff there, too), and she gave me and the others our packages ahead of line-jumper-guy. He was miffed.
LOVE this story. Being rude doesn't pay!

I don't think that's the reason lol. Once the Apple Store app updates and shows a tracking number, the user will be able to see that it was in China at some point (i.e. the beginning).
I believe the consensus was that they'd probably try to fit you in, but they will be very busy.
Anyone know the customer center for los Angeles? 90044 zip, last year I had mine for pick up and mention that that location was closing for pickups. I believe the "new one" in Compton, can someone verify? Thanks
He doesn't really sound like a jumper, more like just in a hurry, which is ok, except when the counter lady makes a fool out of you
Actually, you could easily see he was eager to get his phone, he was very excited in line talking about it, plus he said he'd taken the day off for it. Everyone else calmly filed in in order. I thought it was funny.
I used to pick mine up on S. Blaine but this year I was told I need to pick up at the CC on Main Street near Mission Junction and Lincoln Heights

They wouldn’t let me even stand in the line and hour early when I picked up the 7 plus I reserved. Had to come back in a half hour.
If everyone was there for the same thing I wouldn’t care. But if he jumped ahead and then slowed the line down for some BS, then I’d be pissed. But karma got him quickly lol

I always get that message about the $30 upgrade fee, but since I have a FAN account (AT&T) through my employer, that fee gets waived.

Yep, Apple uses UPS for phones, and FedEx for accessories and pretty much everything else.
I once showed up early for another matter (not iPhone day) and they took me in because the person who had that time slot had not showed up yet. But right before they were going to start helping me, the guy showed up. They pushed me back to take the rightful person’s appt. I didn’t mind waiting and they were very apologetic about it.
So yeah, they may take you in early but remember you may be pushing others out or you may be waiting a loooong time on such a heavy load launch day.

I was in that same exact batch...we all watched the plane land in Anchorage then take back off to Louisville and never get scanned. It'll happen again this year just the same way.
