Last year I didn't even get the shipping notification from Apple until the day before launch but I had been tracking it on UPS so I knew it was coming. I wonder why Apple does that.

As for my credit card being charged it also showed the charge only on Tuesday. (France)

Anyone who placed an order on Friday and whose order is still 'processing/order in progress'?
I ordered a 256 SG Max at 12:14am and my credit card is still not charged...
Does this mean something went wrong with my order?

I'm not from the US, but I've got the same status... All still processing.
I do see 1-2 pending charges made 2 days ago though.

I wouldn't worry too much at this point. US customers seem to be able to track their precious through UPS while in the EU we are still waiting. Since you are in Asia I guess the timing there is also different.

I checked this morning and my credit card has been charged , it wasn't yesterday . OTOH , I had gotten a notification from AMEX on friday .

Anybody read the article from macrumors? States lackluster demand for XS and Max phones. Everyone must really be holding out for the XR

Yeah, we in the EU always have to wait for tracking, but that's not really the issue here.
99% of the EU orders that have a Sep 21 delivery date are already Preparing to Ship.
I'm (and probably a few others here) still waiting for my order status to change from Processing/Order in Progress to Preparing to Ship.

Thanks. I'm currently in Asia but placed an order on the US Apple Store to get my iPhone when I'm on vacation this week. Maybe I should wait for Monday and check with the support if nothing changes...

Cool! Interestingly, UPS MyChoice still doesn't show anything, even though the tracking via reference number (apple order ID - 2 digits) works. My tracking reference also works with my phone number.
I have a UPS Mychoice account for both my home and my work address (which is a UPS store mailbox that I've had for 19 years back when it was still Mailboxes Etc). Nothing shows up there for either address, in calendar view or table view, but at least the tracking is working although no change for the past 3 hours.

If I was on a tighter budget, and I didn't want a 7+ or 8+ then yeah, I'd be holding out for the Xr. You get most of the features (improved camera software, A12, face ID) of the Xs and Xs Max, for $749 with 64GB which is very useable if you have everything on the cloud (photos, iMessage, music streaming) except for a few apps.

No idea when they next move will be, I'm just along for the ride.
Also, I almost got gold, but I recalled that some space grey iPhone X had issues with flaking color on the aides and that scratches could not be polished out of the SG vs Silver. So, I worried gold my wear down and can't be polished. Plus the silver with a light color reflective caseback would run cooler in the summer sunshine, so I stuck with silver/white again this year.
I never got silver in previous years (before X) because I didn't like those big white bezels surrounding the black screen, while a black bezel on the SG and black phones made the screen look bigger when watching a movie.
My phone seems like it's been on "Preparing for shipment" for like a full day now. Is that Normal? I'm in the US. Had my order in at like 12:02.

Haha, false. That’s been the case with my phones maybe 2 or 3x in the last 7 years or so. It made for a super-boring week between preorders and launch, as I got a tracking number late and then saw zero movement until the night before.

Yep, totally normal. My iPhone is in the same boat, and so are the watches I ordered. I do have tracking info for those, though (showed up in UPS MyChoice). Nothing whatsoever on the phone.
