Not that we have any evidence that either of you are doctors... but we have seen some dumb doctors spewing nonsense about topics they don't know... Like a radiologist talking about epidemiology.

I am not a doctor... but my mother is a radiologist and she openly admits that she will stay in her lane and not give medical advice on a global pandemic as she doesn't deal with that, nor has she studied that in detail... but one of the things she had learned in her decades of education and experience in the medical field was that masks protect you and protect your patient. That was something she knew well before the pandemic. That was something we all agreed on before COVID-19. For some reason this disease seems to have changed that for some reason. And that some reason is some political ******** you guys want to feed into.

The only way I might pay that is if it lasted longer and had some chip or such built in with a unique signature that you could link to your iPhone for unlocking.

Tax cuts, prison reform, deleted Iran deal, withdrawal from Paris accord, best unemployment in 50 years for nearly every demographic, stock market through the roof, moved embassy to Jerusalem, NO NEW WARS. All great stuff. Biden doesn't have a chance, but he shouldn't because he can't remember his name.

All good stuff here. The problem is nothing has proven for this to be worse than other things we have encountered before. If it was ebola different story.

I was confused by that. We have political posts because this thread was put into the Political section in the first place. Not the other way around. Which unfortunately is correct because masks have become politicized.

I don't know anybody who died in the Vietnam war, nor Sept. 11. That doesn't mean we didn't have deaths from those, which BTW, the number of US deaths from Coronavirus already exceeds those 2 US figures combined

Your president doesn’t HAVE to lie to Patriotic Republicans and Patriotic Democrats about how deadly covid is, but he does. He was too scared and weak to take control of a national emergency, so he turned tail and ran away from it, like he did from Vietnam.

We’re all paying the price now, aren’t we? Can you imagine the outrage from Republican leadership if Obama had screwed up and caused the death of tens or hundreds of thousands of innocent Americans?

No, it’s not, and Trump knew it since at least February 7. He said it’s at least 5 times worse than the most “strenuous” flu. He said it’s deadly, and it travels through the air, not by touch.

But he said that only in private. He was too weak and frightened to level with us Americans. He continues to disrespect even his own supporters by holding rallies where he’s the only one who is keeping a safe distance from infected attendees. (And those in the first five or so rows, who are required to wear masks so that he’s protected.)

Damn near 200,000 lives lost, you call that no price paid? If that’s 400,000 by the end of the year, is that still no price paid? Trillions of dollars he’s packed onto the national debt to prop up the economy, that’s nothing?

Unfortunately, Trump could piss on his supporters and tell them it’s raining, and they’d believe him 🤷‍♂️ A good 30-40% of the country is highly susceptible to propaganda and nutty conspiracy theories; they just want to do—and think—as they’re told, just please daddy.

It’s very sad, but also very easy, and comforting in a way. It’s very Communist China. Whatever daddy says is true, is true.

Why? Because daddy said so, that’s why. That’s the only reason necessary. No thinking required. Or allowed. He says “believe what you’re told like a good little boy”, and his supporters say, “yes daddy, whatever you say.”

They’re most comfortable when they obey an authority figure, many still seeking the approval of the father they could never please when they themselves were young (like Trump himself).

Nope, that’s a lie you’re being told. Ask yourself, who is telling you that, and why?

If someone who has high blood pressure, or has diabetes, or is overweight gets Covid and dies, that doesn’t mean Covid didn’t kill them.

If they’d have gotten cancer and died, you wouldn’t say, “yeah, but they had high blood pressure (or diabetes or were fat) so it wasn’t cancer that killed them.” Unless you were deliberately trying to undercount cancer deaths, that is.

If masks were that beneficial theoretically it would be smart to wear them 100% of the time every day every where you’re at. But that’s not sensible. Neither is this. You need to weigh the risks. The risk is absurdly low.

Do you realize that if you were in a drive-by shooting and they found out you had Covid that you would count as one of those 200,000. That’s insane. The number is absurd.

Theoretically lots of things could be said. Practically some things make more sense at different times. The risks are being weighed and something that doesn't have a downside is appropriate for what so far is something that's higher than typical risk.

re: the current count, many experts think there’s likely an undercount, if anything.
