It's a minor inconvenience in order to reduce the health, social and economic impact of covid-19 more quickly than it would otherwise take (through immunity or vaccination).

What would you rather? wear a mask for 3-6 months and get back to normal at the beginning of 2021, or for people not to wear masks, and have this situation drift on through the whole of next year? Wearing a mask to reduce potential cross-infection seems to be the socially responsible thing to do. Nothing to do with politics or control.

Personally, I don't want to get sick at all, with the possibility that it could affect me more seriously (I'm slightly asthmatic).

Masks seem like a sensible precaution for the time being unless you live somewhere where there is so little incidence of covid-19 in the community that there is very little risk of contracting it.

That infection rates elsewhere went down by a good 90% once mandatory mask wearing was introduced, is surely a coincidence? Doctor here. Masks save lives. There's PLENTY of literature on this. The best accidental case-study was two hairdressers who worked on hundreds of clients while infected, and none of the clients became infected. It's not even a little bit controversial. Just ask yourself - would you be okay with your surgeon not wearing a mask in the OR?

It's great that Apple is working on this as well. A good design goes a long way towards both comfort and safety.

Same. I don’t have hearing aids but I guess I have really soft ears, lol. My masks pop right off so I’m long rigging twist ties on them now.

What I do is to use a large paperclip and simply slip the two ear loops on to it low behind my head, which also seems to hold the mask in place more snugly. That way, no irritation of the ears, no problems with interference with my bone-anchored hearing aids and my glasses.

Yeah I really don't understand what people don't get. It's not hard to understand. The virus spreads through respiratory droplets. Masks helps me keep my respiratory droplets largely to myself and your respiratory droplets largely to yourself. Why has this even become a political thing?
